A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus PLEX-COB-5-IP67 is a 24 V COB LED strip — 5 W per metre, 640 LEDs per metre, CRI ≥90, IP67, 1 m, in 2700 K at 390 lm per metre.
⭐ 640 LEDs per metre in a 10 mm strip is a dense heat source, and LEDs lose both output and life when they run hot. ⭐ The aluminium is the only path that heat has out. ⚠ On IP67 the point is sharper still: the silicon coating that provides the rating is also a thermal blanket. ⭐ So the waterproof version needs the heat sink MORE than the IP54 one does, not less. ⭐ The published 50,000-hour life assumes it.
| Range | One-end feed | ⭐ Two-end feed |
|---|---|---|
| ⭐ PLEX-COB — this one | 5 m | ⭐ 10 m |
| PLEX-MICRO | 5 m | 10 m |
| PLEX-ULTRA | ⭐ 13 m | ⭐ 26 m |
| PLEX-SMD 9 W | ⭐ 20 m | ⭐ 40 m |
| ⭐ PLEX-SMD 5 W | ⭐ 40 m | ⭐ 80 m |
⭐ SO A LONG UNBROKEN RUN IS NOT A PLEX-COB JOB. ⭐ If the requirement is a single continuous line of 20 or 40 metres, PLEX-SMD reaches it on one feed where PLEX-COB needs eight drivers. ⚠ PLEX-SMD is not dotless, so it is a real trade — but it is a trade nothing in the catalogue puts in front of you.
⭐ This sheet publishes per-metre lumens for all four colours, which most listings do not: ⭐ 2700 K 390 lm, 3000 K 380 lm, 4000 K and 5000 K 425 lm. ⭐ 2700 K is the warmest the range goes, ⭐ and it is available in only two formats — this 1 m and the 50 m roll. ⛔ There is no 5 m or 20 m 2700 K. ⭐ So you can sample it, or commit to fifty metres of it, with nothing in between. ⭐ Ask us and we will get an intermediate length.

COB LED strip, IP67 silicon coated, 1 m. 5 W per metre at 24 V DC, 390 lm per metre at 2700 K. 640 LEDs per metre, dotless. CRI ≥90. 180° beam. 25 mm cutting increment. Continuous run 5 m one-end feed, 10 m two-end. −20 to +50 °C. 50,000 hours. 24 V DC constant-voltage driver required. 3-year warranty. ⛔⛔⛔ IT MUST BE INSTALLED ON AN ALUMINIUM HEAT SINK OR THE WARRANTY IS VOID — the datasheet says so in capitals, seventeen strip sheets repeat it, and NOT ONE product description or profile page mentions it. ⭐ BUDGET A PROFILE WITH EVERY METRE. ⭐ AND FEEDING FROM BOTH ENDS DOUBLES THE RUN to 10 m, which on IP67 means zero cuts where two 5 m runs need one.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Yes, and the datasheet is unambiguous: "All LED strip must be installed on an aluminium heat sink, failure to do so WILL VOID WARRANTY." We checked every strip sheet in the range — seventeen state the requirement and sixteen state the warranty consequence. It is the range's rule, not this product's quirk.
It should be. Not one product description in the range repeats it — it lives only inside a PDF a buyer has to open and read. And none of the 47 aluminium profiles in the catalogue mentions PLEX-COB or a heat-sink role either, so the two halves of one installation sit there with no link in either direction. A buyer can order the strip, install it exactly as the photographs show, and have no warranty.
Because 640 LEDs per metre in a 10mm strip is a dense heat source, and LEDs lose both output and life when they run hot. The aluminium is the only path that heat has out, and the published 50,000-hour life assumes it. On IP67 the point is sharper still — the silicon coating that provides the rating is also a thermal blanket, so the waterproof version needs the heat sink more than the IP54 one, not less.
5 metres from one end, or 10 metres fed from both ends — the sheet states both. Feeding from both ends halves the current each half carries, so the drop halves too: same strip, same driver, one extra cable, and twice the unbroken length. On IP67 that matters especially, because a 10m two-end run has zero cuts where two 5m one-end runs have one.
No, and this is worth knowing. It is 5m for PLEX-COB and PLEX-MICRO, but 13m for PLEX-ULTRA, 20m for PLEX-SMD 9W and 40m for PLEX-SMD 5W — an eightfold spread. So a long unbroken run is not a PLEX-COB job: if you need a single continuous line of 20 or 40 metres, PLEX-SMD reaches it on one feed where PLEX-COB would need eight drivers. PLEX-SMD is not dotless, so it is a real trade — but it is a trade nothing in the catalogue puts in front of you.
390 lumens per metre at 2700K. This sheet publishes figures for all four colours, which most listings do not: 2700K 390lm, 3000K 380lm, and 4000K and 5000K both 425lm.
Only fifty metres. 2700K is available in just two formats — this 1 metre and the 50 metre roll — with no 5m or 20m option at all. So you can sample it or commit to fifty metres of it, with nothing in between. Ask us and we will get an intermediate length.
