A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus PLEX-COB-20 is a 24 V COB LED strip — 20 W per metre, 640 LEDs per metre, CRI90, IP54, 5 m pack, in 3000, 4000 or 5000 K.
| Strip | 5 m load | Driver | ⭐ Where it can live |
|---|---|---|---|
| PLEX-COB-5 | 25 W | ⭐ 30 W | ⭐ Inside joinery, behind a panel |
| PLEX-COB-10 | 50 W | 60 W | ⭐ A cupboard or ceiling void |
| PLEX-COB-15 | 75 W | 90 W | ⚠ A cupboard, ventilated |
| ⭐ PLEX-COB-20 — this one | ⭐ 100 W | ⭐ 120 W | ⛔ Its own space — ventilated and accessible |
⭐ The published single-feed limit is 5 m for the range. ⚠ At 20 W that five metres carries 100 W; at 5 W it carries 25. ⭐ So the strip with the highest load gets the least distance per driver, and the drop across the run is worst — ⭐ because current scales with load. ⭐ Treat 5 m as a ceiling at this wattage rather than a comfortable figure, and ask us before running it full length.
⭐ Domus's own framing: IP54 is “indoor strip including wet areas”. ⭐ So kitchens, bathrooms and laundries are covered — steam and splashing. ⛔ What is not covered is water arriving with force or sitting: hosing, a mopped floor detail, an outdoor position. ⭐ Those want the IP67 version, ⚠ which carries a silicon coating and the cutting limitation that comes with it. ⭐ For a normal kitchen bench, IP54 is the right answer and the easier product.

COB LED strip, 5 m pack. 20 W per metre at 24 V DC, 100 W total. 640 LEDs per metre, dotless. CRI90. 3000, 4000 or 5000 K. IP54. Driver required, approximately 120 W. ⭐ 20 W IS WHERE THE DRIVER STOPS BEING A DETAIL. Five metres at 5 W needs a 30 W driver you can hide in joinery; at 20 W it needs 120 W — roughly a large paperback, generating real heat, wanting ventilation and its own accessible space. ⭐ THAT IS A JOINERY DECISION DISGUISED AS A BRIGHTNESS ONE, and nothing in the catalogue mentions it. ⭐ THE TEST: is there a ventilated, accessible, dry space within about two metres of the run?
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
At 20W per metre, 100 watts of load, so a 120W driver. That is roughly the size of a large paperback, it generates real heat, and it wants ventilation. Compare the same five metres at the other wattages: 5W needs a 30W driver you can hide in joinery, 10W needs 60W, 15W needs 90W.
Yes, and that is the point people miss. Somewhere between the 10W and 20W strips, the driver crosses from a thing you hide to a piece of equipment that needs planning. It is a joinery decision disguised as a brightness one, and nothing in the catalogue mentions it.
Is there a ventilated, accessible, dry space within about two metres of the run? If not, the 10W strip halves the problem and gives half the light — which for most positions is still more than enough. Let the driver location influence the wattage rather than discovering the conflict on site.
Yes. The published single-feed limit is 5 metres for the range, and at 20W that five metres carries 100W where at 5W it carries 25. So the strip with the highest load gets the least distance per driver, and the drop across the run is worst — because current scales with load. Treat 5 metres as a ceiling at this wattage and ask us before running it full length.
Domus's own framing is "indoor strip including wet areas" — so kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, meaning steam and splashing. What it does not cover is water arriving with force or sitting: hosing, a mopped floor detail, an outdoor position. Those want the IP67 version, which carries a silicon coating and the cutting limitation that comes with it.
Not for a normal kitchen bench. IP54 is the right answer and the easier product — the IP67 coating means every cut breaks the seal, so over-specifying costs you a constraint as well as money. Match the rating to what the position actually delivers.
No. All four PLEX-COB wattages carry the same 640 LEDs per metre and are equally dotless, so they look identical and differ only in output. That means you can mix wattages across a job — 20W over the bench, 5W in the cove — without any visual inconsistency.

| ⭐ All four wattages look IDENTICAL | ⭐ 640 LEDs/m — ⭐ so mixing across a job is free |
