The Domus PLEO-14.4 Top View is a 24 V LED neon flex — 14.4 W per metre, CRI90, IP67, top-emitting, 20 m reels, in 3000, 4000 or 5000 K.

  • ⭐ The ceiling cove point is the one that gets designed wrong. ⭐ A cove works by bouncing light off the ceiling, and the further the flex sits from the ceiling the wider and softer the wash. ⚠ Too close and you get a hard bright band with a shadow line above it — the opposite of the intended effect. ⭐ Around 150 mm of clearance is a common starting point, ⚠ and Domus publishes no guidance at all.

⭐ Top view, and the practical consequence for a cove

⭐ Top-emitting flex fires out of its face, so in a cove it is laid flat and points UP. ⭐ That is the correct orientation and the reason top view is the default. ⚠ Side view in a cove would fire at the wall behind rather than the ceiling above, ⭐ which is a different and usually unwanted effect. ⭐ Take side view only where the run curves flat on a plane and a top-view flex would twist.

What decides whether a ceiling cove works?

The distance from the flex to the ceiling. A cove works by bouncing light off the ceiling, and the further the flex sits from it the wider and softer the wash. Too close and you get a hard bright band with a shadow line above it — the opposite of the intended effect. Around 150mm of clearance is a common starting point, and Domus publishes no guidance at all.

What about a floor cove?

The IP rating, because it will be mopped. IP67 here is ample — dust-tight and rated for temporary immersion, which is far beyond what a skirting detail needs but means a wet floor is simply not a consideration. That is one of the better reasons to choose flex over a strip for a floor-level run.

And a window reveal?

What you see from outside at night, which is the point nobody thinks about. A lit reveal is visible from the street, and if the flex is not set back behind a return you see the source rather than the effect. Set it back and light the reveal, not the neighbourhood.

Why does the 20m reel matter?

Because all three applications want the flex continuous. A joint in a cove is visible for the whole length of the run — it is a bright or dark interruption in a line that is meant to be uninterrupted. Most rooms come out of a single 20m piece, which is the main practical advantage of buying by the reel.

Why top view rather than side view in a cove?

Because a top-emitting flex is laid flat and points up, which is the correct orientation for bouncing light off the ceiling. Side view in a cove would fire at the wall behind rather than the ceiling above — a different and usually unwanted effect. Take side view only where the run curves flat on a plane and a top-view flex would twist.

What do I need besides the flex?

A 24V DC driver sized for the run, and a route for it that stays accessible. At 14.4W per metre a 10m run is 144W, so the driver is not a small object and it will not fit inside a cove detail. Tell us the run length and we will size it and suggest where it lives.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
