The Domus PLEO-14.4 Neon Side is a 24 V side-emitting LED neon flex — 14.4 W per metre, IP67, sold in 1 m, in RGB.
| ⭐ Top view | ⭐ Side view | |
|---|---|---|
| Emits from | The wide face | ⭐ The edge |
| Ceiling cove | ⭐ Yes — points up | ⚠ Fires at the wall behind |
| Straight run | ⭐ Yes | ✅ Also fine |
| Curve on a flat plane | ⛔ Twists | ⭐ Yes — the reason it exists |
| Signage, lettering, logos | ⛔ No | ⭐ Yes |
| Vertical face washing | ⚠ Depends on mounting | ⭐ Yes |
⭐ Signage is the application that makes it obvious. ⭐ Formed lettering and logos are curves drawn on a flat plane — ⭐ which is precisely the case a top-view flex cannot follow. ⭐ Side-emitting flex is what neon-effect signage is made of.
⭐ Its single option is RGB, and it is sold as a 1 m length rather than a 20 m reel — ⭐ which makes it a sample. ⭐ Buying a metre before a reel lets you test the bend radius on a bench — ⛔ no minimum is published for any PLEO product — ⭐ and see how solid the lit line reads. ⚠ Its title carries CRI90, which is not meaningful on an RGB source.

Side-emitting 24 V DC RGB LED neon flex, 1 m. 14.4 W per metre. IP67. Polyurethane enclosure, mounting clips included. ⭐ SIDE VIEW EXISTS FOR A GEOMETRIC REASON, NOT A PREFERENCE. A flex ribbon bends easily one way and resists the other, like a tape measure. ⚠ A TOP-VIEW FLEX BENT FLAT ON A PLANE TWISTS — the emitting face rolls over, pointing sideways at the start of the curve and upward at the end, and the result reads as a fault. ⭐ A SIDE-VIEW FLEX EMITS FROM ITS EDGE, so the direction you need is the easy direction. ⭐ THE TEST: if the curve is drawn on a flat plane, you need side view.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Geometry, not preference. A strip of flex is a flat ribbon: it bends easily in one direction and resists the other, exactly like a steel tape measure, which curls along its length but will not bend sideways. A top-view flex emits from its wide face, so bending it the easy way keeps the face pointing where you want it.
It twists. Bending a top-view flex flat on a plane — following a curve drawn on a floor or a wall — means bending the hard way. It resists, and the emitting face rolls over: the light points sideways at the start of the curve and upward at the end. The result reads as a fault rather than as a design.
Draw your run. If the curve is on a flat plane you can walk on or lean against, you need side view. If it is straight, or curves like a ribbon standing on edge — a cove, a section curve — top view. That single test settles almost every case.
Signage. Formed lettering and logos are curves drawn on a flat plane, which is precisely the case a top-view flex cannot follow. Side-emitting flex is what neon-effect signage is made of, and it is the application where the difference is obvious rather than subtle.
Not well. In a cove the flex is laid flat and needs to point up at the ceiling, which is what a top-view flex does. A side-view flex in the same position fires at the wall behind it — a different and usually unwanted effect. Take top view for coves.
It is a sample. The family is otherwise sold on 20m reels, and a metre lets you test the bend radius on a bench rather than on a ceiling — no minimum bend radius is published for any PLEO product — and see how solid the lit line really reads. Note this one is RGB, so it will not tell you how the CRI90 white looks.
Not what the family's side-view listings publish. Those show 320 to 370 lumens at 14.4W, which is 22 to 26 lumens per watt — no LED product achieves that. The top-view version publishes 1123 to 1253 at the same wattage, which is credible. Ask us for the real side-view figure before calculating anything.
