The Domus OMEGA-17 SM is a surface-mounted aluminium LED profile — 17 × 15 mm, 3 m, with a BLACK PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes.

⭐ Same width as the Nova-17, twice the depth — and that is the whole point
  • ⭐ Omega-17 and Nova-17 are both 17 mm wide. ⭐ The Nova is 7 mm deep; the Omega is 15 mm. ⭐ Everything else about them is the same, including the diffuser, which is why one spare part fits both.
  • ⭐ So the choice between them is a single question: how much reveal can you accept in exchange for how even a line?

  • ⭐ The practical compromise, in order of preference:
    • ⭐ 1. If the run can be surface-mounted, take the Omega-17. ⭐ Under a bench or inside a pelmet nobody measures the reveal.
    • ⭐ 2. If it must be flush, take a recessed Nova-20 or Nova-24 at 11 mm and pay for a DENSER strip. ⭐ More LEDs closer together blend at less depth.
    • ⚠ 3. Do not take a recessed Nova-17 at 7 mm with a cheap strip and expect an even line. ⭐ That is the combination that disappoints.

⭐ Black reads as a dark line when off, where opal reads as a white stripe — ⭐ the right choice in a dark ceiling or a charcoal reveal. ⚠ It costs output and Domus does not publish how much, ⭐ but 15 mm of depth gives it more to work with than a shallow profile would. ⭐ 3 m is the longest continuous piece.

How does it compare with the Nova-17?

Same width, twice the depth. Both are 17mm wide; the Nova is 7mm deep and the Omega is 15mm. Everything else about them is the same, including the diffuser — which is why one spare part fits both. So the choice between them is a single question: how much reveal can you accept in exchange for how even a line.

Why does depth make the line more even?

Because a strip is a row of separate points of light. Close behind a diffuser they read as dots; further back they blend into a continuous line. Depth buys that distance, which is why the Omega at 15mm blends best in the range and the Nova-17 at 7mm is the most prone to dotting.

Can I have flush and perfectly even?

Not from this range, and that is the awkward part. The profile that blends best is the only one with no recessed version — the Omega-17 is surface-mounted only. So those two wants point at different products.

What is the practical compromise?

In order of preference: if the run can be surface-mounted, take the Omega-17, because under a bench or inside a pelmet nobody measures the reveal. If it must be flush, take a recessed Nova-20 or Nova-24 at 11mm and pay for a denser strip, since more LEDs closer together blend at less depth. What not to do is take a recessed Nova-17 at 7mm with a cheap strip and expect an even line — that is the combination that disappoints.

How much does it project from the face?

Roughly twice what a Nova-17 does — the Nova sits about 8mm proud, this sits at around 15mm plus the mounting. Under a bench or inside a pelmet that is invisible. On a visible cabinet face it will read as applied rather than integral, which is the case where the shallower profile earns its keep.

Why the black diffuser?

For the off state — black reads as a dark line where opal reads as a white stripe, which in a dark ceiling or a charcoal reveal is the whole point. It costs output and Domus does not publish how much, but 15mm of depth gives it more to work with than a shallow profile would.

Does it include a strip?

No, and no driver. It is complete with the black diffuser and end caps, for the Domus IP54 strip range. Tell us the run lengths and the number of separate runs — the run count is what sets the end-cap requirement — and we will quote everything together.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
