The Domus NOVA-24 SM is a surface-mounted aluminium LED profile — 2.5 m, with a flat opal PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes, cut to length.

⭐ What does “24 × 10 mm” actually measure? It depends on the range.

⭐ We checked three Domus profile families against their published dimensions, and the convention changes:

  • ⭐ So the number in a Domus profile title is not a reliable guide to what you need to rout. ⚠ On the Micro it is the space inside; on the Nova-17 it is the fitting itself. ⭐ Those are different numbers with different consequences.
  • ⭐ The practical rule that always holds: never rout to a title number. ⭐ Ask for the actual profile dimension, and add your working tolerance.
  • ⭐ On a SURFACE profile like this one the stakes are much lower — ⭐ you are not cutting anything, so a millimetre of uncertainty costs nothing. ⚠ It is the recessed versions where this matters.
✅ One thing this range does get right

⭐ Its length is unambiguous. ⭐ The title says 2.5 m and the order code in its own body is LP-2410-SM-2.5M — ⭐ they agree. ⚠ That is not true of the Nova-17 recessed listings, which say 2.5 m in the title and carry a 3M order code. ⭐ So on the Nova-24 you can plan the run with confidence.

⭐ Why 2.5 m rather than 3 m

⚠ Domus does not say. ⭐ A plausible reason is weight and handling: at 24 mm wide and 11 mm deep this is a heavier extrusion than the Nova-17, and a longer stick of it is more prone to bending in transit and on site. ⭐ Offered as reasoning, not fact. ⭐ What matters practically is the joint count: a 5 m run is two pieces either way, but a 6 m run is three at 2.5 m and two at 3 m.

What does "24 x 10mm" actually measure?

Not what you would assume, and not the same thing across ranges. We checked three Domus profile families: on the Micro, "8x9mm" is the channel and the profile is 10.9mm wide. On the Nova-17, "17x7mm" is the profile — the surface width is exactly 17mm. On this Nova-24, the published figures are 23.5 x 11mm, which is near the profile but neither number exactly.

So what should I rout to?

Never a title number. Ask for the actual profile dimension and add your working tolerance. On this surface-mounted version the stakes are low — you are not cutting anything, so a millimetre of uncertainty costs nothing. It is the recessed versions where this matters, because a groove cannot be un-cut.

Is the 2.5m length reliable?

Yes, and that is worth saying because it is not true everywhere in this family. The title says 2.5m and the order code in its own body is LP-2410-SM-2.5M — they agree. No, and no driver. "C/W Opal Diff & Ec" means complete with the opal diffuser and end caps. It is designed for the Domus IP54 strip range. Tell us the run lengths and we will quote all three parts together.

Why choose the Nova-24 over the Nova-17?

Width. A 24mm channel takes a wider strip than a 17mm one, which generally means more output per metre and more strip options. If the run is doing real work — lighting a bench rather than marking a line — the wider channel is the better starting point.

Does it need any preparation?

None. Surface profiles clip to the face, so they retrofit into finished joinery and can be moved if the layout changes. What they do need is a straight run — the clips hold the profile true but cannot straighten a bowed shelf, and a wave in the substrate shows in the line of light.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations
