The Domus NOVA-24 REC is a recessed aluminium LED profile — 2.5 m, with a flat opal PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes, cut to length.

Should I choose a profile by width or depth?

People choose by width, because that is what the name gives them — but the number that actually shows in the result is the depth. A strip is a row of separate points of light: close behind a diffuser they read as dots, further back they blend into a line. Depth buys that distance.

How do the Domus profiles compare on depth?

Nova-17 is 7mm, which is the shallowest and where dotting is most likely, especially with a low-density strip. Nova-20 and Nova-24 are 10 to 11mm, the sensible middle. Omega-17 is 15mm, the deepest and the most even line, at the cost of a much taller profile. So depth buys evenness and costs reveal height.

What else affects whether I see dots?

Two things alongside depth. The strip's LED spacing — a denser strip blends at less depth — and the diffuser, since opal blends better than clear. Domus publishes neither an LED density figure nor a recommended minimum depth, so tell us which strip you are using and we will say whether the depth suits it.

Why does this matter so much?

Because it is not fixable afterwards. A run of visible dots along a benchtop cannot be improved once the profile is installed and the joinery is finished — you would be replacing the profile. It is the specification nobody explains and the one people regret.

Is 11mm deep enough?

For a normal-density strip behind an opal diffuser, generally yes — it sits in the useful middle, deep enough to blend while still shallow enough to recess into most joinery. If you are using a widely spaced strip, or the run will be seen close and directly, the deeper Omega-17 at 15mm is the safer answer.

What about the recessed width?

Treat it as unconfirmed. The datasheet-bearing NOVA-24 listing publishes 23.5mm for both the recessed and the surface profile, and two profiles that differ by a flange cannot share a width — on the Nova-17 the same pair differ by 6mm. Ask us before the groove is cut.

Is the 2.5m length reliable?

Yes. The title says 2.5m and the order code in its own body is LP-2410-RC-2.5M, so they agree. That is not true of the Nova-17 recessed listings, which say 2.5m in the title and carry a 3M order code — so on the Nova-24 you can plan the run with confidence.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
