The Domus NOVA-20 REC is a recessed aluminium LED profile, sold per metre — with a flat opal PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes.

⭐ Where the joint goes — the decision nobody plans and everybody sees
  • ⭐ 3 m is the longest continuous piece. ⭐ Anything longer is two or more lengths with a joint — ⭐ and on a continuous lit line, a joint is the thing the eye finds.
  • ⚠ Left to the installer, the joint lands wherever the offcut falls, ⭐ which is usually the middle of the longest open span — the worst place.

How long can one continuous piece be?

3m. Anything longer is two or more lengths with a joint between them, and on a continuous lit line a joint is the thing the eye finds. That makes where it falls a real design decision rather than a detail.

Where should the joint go?

At a corner or direction change, where the line already breaks and the joint reads as part of the geometry. Or over a cabinet division or mullion, where there is already a vertical line to hide it against. Or behind a rangehood, shelf bracket or appliance, where something else occupies the eye. Not mid-span, where nothing explains it and it reads as a defect.

What happens if I do not plan it?

The joint lands wherever the offcut falls, which is usually the middle of the longest open span — the worst possible place. It is a five-minute decision at design stage and an unfixable irritation afterwards.

Is the joint an electrical decision too?

Yes, and this is the part people miss. Two lengths of strip can be fed from one driver in series or run as two circuits, and a long series run drops voltage — so the far end sits visibly dimmer than the near end. Feeding from the centre outward, or from both ends, keeps the line even. The joint position and the feed position want to be decided together.

Why buy per metre rather than a 3m stick?

Because it lets you do the joint properly. You order the two lengths you actually want, rather than cutting a 3m stick and hoping the remainder suits the second run. On any job with a planned joint, per-metre is the format that matches how you are actually building it.

What do I need to confirm before routing?

The recessed width, which is not published — the Nova-20 is the only Nova family with no datasheet, so no actual dimension appears anywhere, only the 20 x 10 in its name. And the strip, since the channel width decides what fits and a strip a fraction too wide will not seat. Ask us for both.

Can you help plan the run?

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
