The Domus NOVA-17 SM is a surface-mounted aluminium LED profile — 17 × 7 mm, 3 m, with a black PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes.
⭐ The surface profile is 17 mm wide against the recessed version's 23 mm, ⭐ because it has no flange. ⭐ It clips to the face and needs no preparation — ⭐ so it retrofits into finished joinery, and it can be moved if the layout changes. ⚠ At 8 mm high it stands slightly proud, which under a bench or inside a wardrobe nobody sees. ⭐ What matters far more is that the run it fixes to is straight — ⚠ the clips hold the profile true, but they cannot straighten a bowed shelf, and a wave shows in the line of light.
⭐ A black diffuser reads as a dark line when the strip is off, ⭐ where opal reads as a white stripe. ⭐ In a dark ceiling or a black reveal that is the whole point. ⚠ It costs output, and Domus does not publish how much — ⭐ so take black for accent work and opal where you need to see.
⛔ No strip, no driver. ⭐ Designed for the Domus IP54 strip range — ⚠ a different family from the Micro's PLEX-MICRO.

Surface-mounted LED strip profile, 3 m. 17 × 7 mm channel, 17 mm wide, 8 mm high, no flange. Flat black PMMA diffuser and end caps. Extruded aluminium in aluminium, black or white. For the Domus IP54 strip range. Order code LP-1707-SM-B-3M. ⭐ ON A LONG RUN THIS IS THE VERSION WHOSE LENGTH YOU CAN RELY ON — its title and its order code both say 3 m, where both recessed listings say 2.5m in the title and 3M in their own body text. ⭐ That is a genuine reason to prefer it on a long continuous line, independent of the surface-versus-recessed question.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Because its maximum length is unambiguous. This listing says 3m in its title and in its order code, and they agree. The recessed version does not: both recessed listings say 2.5m in the title and carry a 3M order code in their own text. If the run length governs your design, that certainty is worth having independent of whether you would otherwise choose surface or recessed.
A 5.5m run at a 3m maximum is two pieces and one joint. What matters more is where that joint falls — over a cabinet division or at a corner rather than in the middle of an open span, because a joint on a continuous lit line is the thing the eye finds. Plan it rather than leaving it to the installer.
Because it has no flange. The recessed version is 23mm across since it needs a lip to sit on the surface and cover the groove edge; this one is 17mm because it clips straight to the face with nothing to hide. Both take the same 17 x 7mm strip channel.
None — that is the point of surface mounting. It clips to the face, retrofits into finished joinery, and can be moved if the layout changes. What it does need is a straight run: the clips hold the profile true but they cannot straighten a bowed shelf, and a wave in the substrate shows up in the line of light.
For the off state. A black diffuser reads as a dark line when the strip is off, where opal reads as a white stripe — in a dark ceiling or a black reveal that is the whole point. It costs output, and Domus does not publish how much, so take black for accent work and opal where you actually need to see.
No, and no driver. It is complete with the black diffuser and end caps. It is designed for the Domus IP54 strip range, which is a different family from the Micro profile's PLEX-MICRO — the channels are different widths, so the strips are not interchangeable.
Match the substrate rather than the room. A black profile with a black diffuser on a dark ceiling disappears entirely, which is usually why black is chosen. Aluminium, black and white are all available, and under a bench the profile is seen from below at close range, where a mismatch is obvious.
