The Domus NOVA-17 REC is a recessed aluminium LED profile — 17 × 7 mm channel, supplied with an OPAL PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes, cut to length.

⭐ It takes IP54 strip — and that is worth understanding
  • ⭐ Domus states the LP-1707 is designed for its IP54 strip range. ⚠ That is a different family from the Micro profile's PLEX-MICRO — ⭐ so a strip bought for one does not necessarily suit the other. ⭐ The channel here is 17 mm wide against the Micro's 8 mm, so a Micro strip would rattle around in it.
  • ⭐ IP54 on a strip means dust-protected and splash-protected. ⭐ It is not a wet-area rating — ⚠ IP54 will not survive a shower or an outdoor position — ⭐ but it does mean the strip tolerates the conditions in a kitchen, a laundry or a bathroom vanity where an unrated strip would corrode.
  • ⭐ And the profile itself adds protection. ⭐ Domus's own reason for the diffuser is that it “keeps LEDs free from foreign objects and vapours which may damage the LEDs” — ⭐ so a profile plus an IP54 strip is meaningfully more durable in a kitchen than a bare strip stuck under a shelf. ⚠ The assembly is not itself IP-rated, and Domus does not claim it is.
⭐ Opal, and where it beats the black version

⭐ Opal gives more output and an even, milky line — ⭐ which is what you want where the run is doing real work. ⭐ Under a bench, in a wardrobe, along a stair, opal is the right answer ⚠ because you are trying to see, not to make a feature. ⭐ The black-diffuser version of this same profile exists for the opposite case — ⭐ a dark ceiling where the off state matters more than the output.

What does IP54 mean on a strip?

Dust-protected and splash-protected. It is not a wet-area rating — IP54 will not survive a shower or an outdoor position — but it does mean the strip tolerates the conditions in a kitchen, a laundry or a bathroom vanity, where an unrated strip would corrode over time.

Does the profile add protection?

Does it include a strip or driver?

Neither. "C/W Opal Diff & Ec" means complete with the opal diffuser and end caps only. Both the strip and the driver are separate purchases, and the driver needs somewhere accessible to live — it is the part that fails first, so a sealed cavity is the wrong place for it.

How does it compare with the Micro profile?

It is a bigger channel for a different strip. The Micro is 8 x 9mm for PLEX-MICRO; this is 17 x 7mm for the IP54 range. Wider means more strip options and generally more output per metre; shallower at 7mm means less depth to recess. Choose by which strip you actually want, not by the profile.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
