The Domus NOVA-17 REC is a recessed aluminium LED profile — 17 × 7 mm channel, supplied with a BLACK PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes, cut to length.
| ⭐ Black diffuser (this one) | Opal diffuser | |
|---|---|---|
| Switched off | ⭐ Reads as a dark line — the strip is invisible | ⚠ Reads as a white line |
| Switched on | ⚠ Lower output — the tint absorbs light | ⭐ More output |
| In a dark ceiling | ⭐ Disappears | ⚠ A visible white stripe |
| Best for | ⭐ Where the OFF state matters | ⭐ Where output matters |
⭐ “C/W Black Diff & Ec” = complete with the black diffuser and end caps — ⛔ not with a strip and not with a driver. ⭐ The LP-1707 is designed for the Domus IP54 strip range — ⚠ a different strip family from the Micro profile's PLEX-MICRO, so do not assume one carries over. ⭐ Tell us the run and we will quote profile, strip and driver together.

Recessed LED strip profile, 17 × 7 mm channel, 23 mm across the flange, 8 mm high. Flat black PMMA diffuser and end caps. Extruded aluminium in aluminium, black or white. Cut to length. For the Domus IP54 strip range. Order code LP-1707-RC-B. ⛔ THE TITLE SAYS 2.5m AND ITS OWN ORDER CODE SAYS 3M — and on a cut-to-length product that decides how many joints a run needs. A 5.5m run is three pieces and two joints at 2.5m, or two pieces and one joint at 3m, and the difference is visible from across a room. ⭐ THE BLACK DIFFUSER IS FOR THE OFF STATE — it reads as a dark line rather than a white stripe, at the cost of output Domus does not quantify.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
The listing says both, which is why we are flagging it. The title says 2.5m and the order code inside its own description is LP-1707-RC-B-3M. The sibling opal listing does the same. Ask us and we will confirm with Domus before you set out the run.
Because it decides how many joints a run needs, and on a continuous lit line a joint is the thing the eye finds. A 5.5m run is three pieces and two joints at a 2.5m maximum, or two pieces and one joint at 3m. That difference is visible from across a room, so it is worth settling before you commit to a layout.
For the off state. A strip in a dark ceiling or a black joinery reveal spends most of its life switched off, and an opal diffuser is a bright white line across it all day. A black diffuser reads as a dark line instead, so the profile disappears until it is lit. It is the choice people get wrong most often.
Output — the tint absorbs light, and Domus does not publish how much. So take black where the run is decorative or accent, and opal where it is doing real work, such as under a bench where you actually need to see. If the run has to do both, opal is the safer choice.
No. "C/W Black Diff & Ec" means complete with the black diffuser and end caps, not with a strip or a driver. The LP-1707 is designed for the Domus IP54 strip range — which is a different strip family from the Micro profile's PLEX-MICRO, so do not assume one carries over. Tell us the run and we will quote profile, strip and driver together.
The strip channel is 17 x 7mm and the profile sits 23mm across the flange at 8mm high. So you rout for the body and the flange covers 23mm — which is useful, because the flange is what hides a cut that is not perfectly clean. Confirm the exact routing dimension with us before the joinery is cut.
Aluminium, black or white, and the useful rule is to match the substrate rather than the room. A black profile with a black diffuser in a dark ceiling disappears completely, which is usually the point of choosing black in the first place. A white profile on white plasterboard does the same in a light ceiling.

| Model / SKUs | LP-1707-RC-B — 21972 Aluminium, 21973 Black, 21974 White |
| ⛔ 2.5m OR 3m? THE LISTING SAYS BOTH | Title "2.5m" · ⛔ its own order code "LP-1707-RC-B-3M" |
| ⭐ Why it matters on a cut-to-length product | It decides how many JOINTS a run needs |
| ⭐ Worked example — a 5.5m run | ⚠ At 2.5m: three pieces, two joints · ⭐ at 3m: two pieces, ONE joint |
| ⭐ And a joint | Is the thing the eye finds on a continuous lit line |
| ⚠ The surface version | Is sold as 3m with NO such conflict — ⭐ so a real 2.5m limit is possible but unexplained |
| ⭐ THE BLACK DIFFUSER IS FOR THE OFF STATE | ⭐ A dark line, not a white stripe |
| ⚠ What it costs | OUTPUT — ⛔ Domus does not publish how much |
| ⭐ So take black for | Decorative and accent runs — ⚠ take OPAL where you need to see |
| ⛔ Strip / driver | Neither included — ⭐ for the Domus IP54 strip range |
| ⚠ A different strip family | From the Micro profile's PLEX-MICRO — ⭐ do not assume one carries over |
| ⭐ Channel / profile | 17 × 7mm channel · ⭐ 23mm across the flange, 8mm high |
| ⭐ Black diffuser | Opal diffuser | |
|---|---|---|
| ⭐ Switched OFF | ⭐ A dark line | ⚠ A white stripe |
| Switched on | ⚠ Lower output | ⭐ More output |
| Best for | ⭐ Accent, dark ceilings | ⭐ Task, under-bench |
