The Domus LP-0809-SM is a surface-mounted aluminium profile for LED strip, sold per metre — with a flat opal PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes.
| Settle | Why it has to be now |
|---|---|
| ⭐ 1. The run lengths | ⚠ Cut to order — ⭐ and 3000 mm is the maximum continuous piece |
| ⭐ 2. The strip | ⛔ Not included — ⭐ PLEX-MICRO-8W, and the channel is only 8 mm wide |
| ⭐ 3. The driver AND where it goes | ⛔ Remote driver required — ⚠ it needs an accessible spot and a cable route |
| ⭐ 4. Where the feed enters | ⚠ The one hole nobody draws — ⭐ and joinery is usually already being built |
⭐ One driver for several runs is usually neater and cheaper — ⚠ but every run then has to reach it, ⭐ and voltage drop over a long low-voltage tail dims the far end. ⭐ Where runs are far apart, separate drivers near each are the more reliable answer, ⚠ and they let one section be switched independently. ⭐ Tell us the layout and we will say which way suits it.

Surface-mounted LED strip profile, sold per metre. Extruded aluminium, aluminium / black / white. Flat opal PMMA diffuser, end caps and mounting clips. 8×9 mm channel, 3000 mm maximum continuous length. ⛔ A PROFILE JOB IS THREE PURCHASES: the profile, a PLEX-MICRO-8W strip and a remote driver. ⭐ FOUR THINGS TO SETTLE FIRST — the run lengths (cut to order, 3m maximum), the strip, the driver AND where it goes, and where the low-voltage feed enters. ⚠ THAT LAST ONE IS THE HOLE NOBODY DRAWS, and it has to be drilled while the carcass is accessible. ⭐ Sizing: metres × 8 W, plus about a fifth.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Four things, because a profile job is three purchases rather than one. The run lengths, since it is cut to order and 3000mm is the maximum continuous piece. The strip, which is not included. The driver and where it will physically go. And where the low-voltage feed enters the profile — which is the one nobody draws.
Because a profile has two ends and a back, and the tail has to leave through one of them into somewhere it can reach the driver. Under a bench that usually means a hole through the carcass at one end, and it has to be drilled while the carcass is still accessible. Joinery is generally already being built by the time the lighting is ordered, which is what makes it urgent rather than merely important.
Somewhere you can reach it again. A driver in a sealed cavity is a driver you cannot replace, and it will fail before the LEDs do. Behind a removable panel, in an adjacent cupboard, or above a lift-out shelf are all fine. This is the decision that most often costs money later.
Add your run lengths, multiply by 8 watts per metre, and add about a fifth for headroom. Three 1.2m runs is 3.6m, which is 28.8W, so a 40W driver. Running a driver at its absolute limit shortens its life, which is why the headroom is worth the small extra cost.
One is usually neater and cheaper, but every run then has to reach it, and voltage drop over a long low-voltage tail visibly dims the far end. Where runs are far apart, separate drivers near each are more reliable, and they have the side benefit of letting one section be switched independently. Tell us the layout and we will say which suits.
No — it is complete with the opal diffuser and end caps only. The compatible strip is PLEX-MICRO-8W at 8 watts per metre, and the channel is 8mm wide, so a wider strip will not fit. Both the strip and the driver are separate purchases.
None is published on any of the four Micro profile listings. Ask us and we will get it from Domus. Note that on a three-part installation the warranty question really has three answers — profile, strip and driver are separate products and may not carry the same cover.
