The Domus LP-0809-SM is a surface-mounted aluminium profile for LED strip — supplied with a flat opal PMMA diffuser and end caps, in three finishes, up to 3 m.

Surface or recessed — how do I choose?

By the substrate, not by taste. Surface needs no preparation, clips straight to the face, retrofits into finished joinery and can be unclipped and re-fixed if the run moves. Recessed finishes flush but needs a groove routed to 10.9mm, which is permanent if it is in the wrong place. Under a bench or inside a wardrobe nobody sees 9mm of profile — they see the light — so surface is usually the sensible answer in exactly the places this family suits.

When is recessed worth the extra risk?

On a visible face, where a profile standing 9mm proud would read as an addition rather than part of the joinery. That is a real difference on a feature shelf or a stair nosing. It is much less of one under a benchtop, which is where most of these runs go.

Is there anything surface mounting still needs?

A flat, clean run. The clips hold the profile straight but they cannot straighten a bowed shelf, and at 8mm wide any wave in the substrate shows up in the line of light. It is the single thing people underestimate about surface profile — the profile is only as straight as what it is fixed to.

Does it include an LED strip?

No. It is complete with the opal diffuser and end caps, not with a strip or a driver. You need a PLEX-MICRO-8W strip at 8 watts per metre and a remote driver — 24W over a full 3m run, so a 30W driver with headroom.

Why does this listing carry so little detail?

Because its specification block is missing. Of the four Micro profile listings, only the 3m recessed one publishes a spec block; this one runs 963 characters against its 1660. The profile is the same family, so the material, diffuser and channel figures hold — but the published record on this page is thin, and that is a listing problem rather than a product one.

How long a run can I have?

3000mm in one continuous piece. Longer runs use multiple lengths with a joint, and it is worth deciding where that joint falls rather than leaving it to the installer, since it is the one visible interruption in the line.

What finishes are there?

Aluminium, black and white. Choose to match the substrate rather than the room — a white profile on a white carcass disappears, an aluminium one on white does not, and under a bench the profile is seen from below at close range where a mismatch is obvious.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
