The Domus LP-0809-RC is a recessed aluminium mounting profile for LED strip — supplied with a flat opal PMMA diffuser, end caps and mounting clips, in three finishes, cut to any length up to 3 m.

⛔⛔ Read this first — it does not light up on its own
  • ⭐ This is an extrusion, not a light fitting. ⭐ “C/W Opal Diff & Ec” means complete with the diffuser and end caps — ⛔ NOT with an LED strip.
  • ⛔ You need two more things to get light, and Domus names both: “Compatible Strip: PLEX-MICRO-8W” and “Driver Installation: Remote Driver Required”.
  • ⚠ The driver is REMOTE — ⭐ there is no room for one in an 8 mm channel, ⭐ so you must plan somewhere accessible to put it and a route for the low-voltage run. ⚠ In a stone benchtop or a sealed wardrobe that has to be decided before anything is built.
  • ⭐ Sizing the driver: PLEX-MICRO-8W draws 8 W per metre, ⭐ so a full 3 m run is 24 W — ⭐ take a 30 W driver for headroom. ⭐ A 1.5 m run is 12 W.

Does this product light up on its own?

No — and it is the first thing to understand. This is an aluminium extrusion, not a light fitting. "C/W Opal Diff & Ec" means complete with the opal diffuser and end caps, not complete with an LED strip. Domus names what you also need: a compatible PLEX-MICRO-8W strip, and a remote driver.

What driver do I need?

PLEX-MICRO-8W draws 8 watts per metre, so a full 3m run is 24W and a 30W driver gives sensible headroom. A 1.5m run is 12W. The driver is remote — there is no room for one inside an 8mm channel — so you need somewhere accessible to mount it and a route for the low-voltage run. In a stone benchtop or a sealed wardrobe that has to be decided before anything is built.

What size groove do I rout?

10.9mm wide, plus your tolerance. The 8x9mm in the title is the strip channel — the space inside the profile — while the profile itself measures W10.9mm x H9.1mm. That is the figure you set out to. A groove cut at 8mm will not take it, and on a recessed profile that is a joinery error you cannot correct afterwards.

Can I cut it to length?

Yes — it is supplied per metre and can be cut to any length up to 3m, and it comes with end caps and mounting clips. It is made to order and cut to length, so confirm the measurement before it is cut rather than after; cut lengths are not returnable in the ordinary way. No lead time is published, so call us to confirm before ordering.

What finishes are available?

Natural clear anodised, black or white as standard. Custom powder coat colours are available on request, with surcharges. The diffuser is flat opal PMMA in all cases.

Why use a profile at all?

Three reasons Domus names. It conceals the strip so you see a line of light rather than the tape. It keeps the strip linear, so it does not wander or sag along a run. And it keeps the LEDs free of dust and vapour, which is what shortens strip life in a laundry or under a bench.

Recessed or surface mounted?

This is the recessed version, LP-0809-RC — it sits in a routed groove and finishes flush, which is the cleaner result where the joinery can take it. The surface-mounted LP-0809-SM sits on the face and needs no groove, which is the answer for retrofit or where you cannot cut into the substrate.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
