The Domus Maxi 50 is a 1.7 m suspended LED linear pendant — 34 W, 3400 lm, 4000 K at CRI90, dimmable, in a white body, in six finishes.
Domus asks you to call and confirm it — ⚠ and on a retrofit the old fitting comes down before the new one arrives. ⭐ Settle it first.
| Twin 58 W fluorescent batten | This fitting | |

| Input power | ≈130 W with gear | ⭐ 34 W |

| Maintenance | Tubes replaced periodically | ⚠ No lamp — the fitting is replaced |

1.7 m suspended LED linear pendant. 3400 lm, 34 W (100 lm/W), 4000 K, CRI90. IP20. 1700 mm. 3 m drop. PLEX-COB-20W strip, integral dimmable driver, DALI and emergency on request. White powder-coated aluminium body. Six finishes. 3-year replacement warranty. Order code MAXI-50-1.7M-W-4K. ⭐ AGAINST A TWIN 58 W FLUORESCENT BATTEN: about 130 W down to 34 W, ≈77 lm/W up to 100, and CRI80–85 up to CRI90. ⚠ The raw lumen figures look unfavourable and are misleading — a bare lamp is measured AT THE LAMP, and an open batten throws much of that sideways and upward, where this fitting directs all 3400 lm downward. ⭐ Compare the working plane, not the datasheet.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
It is a sensible replacement for a 5ft twin, and the comparison can now be made properly. Input power drops from about 130W with gear to 34W. Efficacy rises from roughly 77 lumens per watt at the lamp to 100. Colour rendering improves from a typical CRI80 to 85 up to CRI90. And the flicker and warm-up of a fluorescent tube go away.
The raw comparison is misleading. A bare fluorescent lamp's output is measured at the lamp, and an open batten throws a large share of it sideways and upward where it does little work. This fitting's 3400 lumens is directed downward at 120 degrees, so far more of it reaches the working plane. Compare the working plane rather than the datasheet — though we would not claim a one-for-one swap without checking your space. Tell us the mounting height and the existing fitting.
Three things. It is suspended rather than surface-mounted, so it hangs below the ceiling where a batten sat against it — 3m of drop is supplied and shortened on site. The fixing is different: suspension points into structure rather than screws into the lining, and the spacing and weight are not published. And there is no lamp, so when it fails the fitting is replaced.
Because it is close to what a standard fluorescent tube delivered, so the room does not change character. 3000K in a space people are used to seeing under cool white reads as dim even when it is not — the eye judges brightness partly by colour temperature. It is also the more efficient option here at 3400 lumens against 3060 for the same 34W.
That there is no tube to change. The old batten had lamps replaced periodically; this has none, so a failure means a new fitting. The 3-year replacement warranty is the right form of cover for that, and the rated lifespan is not published — worth asking us for if you are building a maintenance schedule around it.
Yes, and it is one of the clearer wins. CRI90 against a typical fluorescent CRI80 to 85 means materials, print and finishes read more accurately — reds in particular, which is where lower-CRI sources fall down most visibly. In a workroom or anywhere anything is inspected, that is a real improvement rather than a specification detail.
No — IP20, dry interior only, and many batten positions are damp or dusty. That is worth checking before a like-for-like swap rather than after. For those positions, ask us about the Domus IMPACT range at IP66 and IK10.
