• ⭐ Every other finish here is a decision about the light. ⭐ The black diffuser is a decision about the object.
• ⭐ It is a tinted diffuser, not a painted panel — light passes through it — ⭐ but unlit it reads as a dark face rather than a pale one.
• ⭐ So the fitting recedes when it is off. ⚠ A frosted or opal pendant is a pale line across the ceiling all day; ⭐ a black-diffused one is close to invisible against a dark or exposed ceiling.
• ⭐ Which matters in rooms used in daylight and lit at night — ⭐ a restaurant that serves lunch, a bar with windows, a meeting room with good glazing, a studio with high sidelight.
• ⚠ And it costs light. ⭐ A tint absorbs, and by mechanism it is the lowest-output finish of the six — ⛔ how much is not published, since Domus gives one figure per listing rather than one per finish.

⚠ On an aluminium body it is a deliberate two-tone

• ⭐ A black diffuser in an aluminium tube is a metal body with a dark face.
• ⭐ That can be exactly right — ⭐ the body catches light and reads as a material, and the face stays dark, ⭐ a considered detail against timber or concrete.
• ⚠ Or exactly wrong, if you wanted the fitting to disappear entirely — ⭐ in which case the BLACK BODY with a black diffuser is the combination that does it.
• ⚠ Worth deciding on purpose, ⭐ because the body colour and the finish sit on different pages, so nothing prompts you to consider them together.

⭐ At 3000 K the same fitting publishes 3060 lm — ⭐ so 4000 K is about 11% more for the same 34 W.

⚠ And not for screens

⭐ Over a monitor, take the HONEYCOMB or the PRISMATIC. ⚠ The black diffuser reduces everything, including the useful downward light — ⭐ it does not preferentially remove the shallow-angle component that causes a reflection. ⭐ Dimming the whole fitting is not the same as controlling its distribution.
