Questions
How high should I hang it?

About 750mm from a benchtop to the bottom of the fitting over an island, and about 800mm over a dining table — low enough to light the surface, high enough to see across. From a 2.4m ceiling over a 900mm island that is roughly 750mm of drop; from 3.0m it is about 1350mm; from a 4m ceiling over a table it is about 2450mm. All of those sit inside the 3m supplied.

When does the supplied drop run out?

Above about a 4m ceiling, and on a raked ceiling where the drop varies along the fitting. A 5m ceiling over a table needs roughly 3450mm, which exceeds the 3m supplied. Whether Domus offers a longer drop is not published, so ask us before specifying into a tall or raked space rather than discovering it at installation.

What mounting information is still missing?

Two figures, and they are specific. The suspension-point spacing: a 1.7m fitting may hang from one point or two, and that changes the setting-out entirely — one is centred while two must be positioned and both must land in structure. And the weight, which decides whether the fixing goes into a joist, a noggin or a proprietary plasterboard anchor. Ask us for both before the ceiling closes.

Can I shorten the cable myself?

The 3m drop is intended to be shortened on site, which is standard for a suspended pendant of this kind — that is why a generous length is supplied rather than a fixed short one. Your electrician will do it as part of the installation. What you cannot do is extend it, which is why the tall-ceiling question needs answering before you order.

How much light does it give?

3060 lumens at 90 lumens per watt from 34W, at 3000K and CRI90. Over a 2.5m dining table or a medium island that is task lighting at full output, and dimmed to about a third it becomes dining light.

Why CRI90 over an island?

Because food is judged under it. CRI90 renders close to natural light, so meat, vegetables and fruit read correctly for freshness, where CRI80 — what most commercial linear lighting publishes — flattens reds in particular. And at 3000K you get warm light that still renders honestly.

Can I use it in a damp space?

No — IP20, dry interior only. A pendant over a domestic island is fine because it sits away from the steam; directly over a range or in a commercial kitchen it is not, and neither is a bathroom or an alfresco area.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
