Questions
Can this be specified for a healthcare or education project?

For most of the specification, yes. Seven of the nine clauses these projects usually name are supported: maintained illuminance from the published 2400 lumens, colour temperature at 4000K, colour rendering at CRI90, ingress protection at IP20, connected load, emergency lighting on request and DALI control on request. The two gaps are a UGR glare figure and the rated lifespan.

Is CRI90 enough for clinical work?

It exceeds the usual requirement. Clinical and educational specifications commonly set CRI80 as a minimum, and skin tone assessment benefits from more than that — so CRI90 clears the bar comfortably rather than just meeting it. It is one of the stronger reasons to choose this range over generic commercial linear lighting, most of which publishes CRI 80 or better.

What about the glare requirement?

That is the gap most likely to matter. UGR is not published on any Domus linear listing, and it matters in a ward or a classroom because people look up — a patient on their back, a child at a whiteboard. If your specification names a UGR limit, ask us before submission; it is one enquiry to Domus, and the rest of the specification is already in hand.

Where does IP20 stop me using it?

Wards, classrooms, consulting rooms, corridors and offices are all dry interiors and are fine. Ensuite bathrooms, sluice rooms, hydrotherapy areas and covered walkways are not. For those, ask us about the Domus IMPACT range, which is IP66 and IK10 and publishes both figures.

Which diffuser and finish for a glare-sensitive room?

The diffuser type is an appearance and mounting-depth choice — flat, high and low publish identical output and an identical 120 degree beam, so none of them is brighter. The finish is the lever that matters: take prismatic, which refracts shallow-angle light back towards the vertical, and do not use clear above a supine patient.

What is the rated lifespan?

Not published for this range, which is the second gap. On an institutional project that matters for the maintenance schedule rather than the specification itself. The Domus MAX-50 profile range publishes 50,000 hours as a comparable, but we will not assume the Maxi 40 matches it — ask us and we will get the figure.

How long will it take to arrive?

Domus builds it to order and publishes no lead time; their own note asks you to call and confirm. On an institutional programme with a handover date that should be settled at the start rather than discovered late, since lighting typically goes in near the end of the programme.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
