The Domus Maxi 40 is a 1.2 m suspended LED linear pendant — 24 W, 2160 lm, 3000 K at CRI90, dimmable, in a white body with a flat diffuser.
Domus asks you to call and confirm it — ⚠ worth settling before the benchtop template date on a kitchen. ⭐ We will.
⭐ CRI90 renders colour close to natural light. ⭐ Over an island that means meat, vegetables and fruit read correctly for freshness, ⚠ where CRI80 — what most commercial linear lighting publishes, including the Domus MAX-50 profile range — flattens reds in particular. ⭐ And at 3000 K you get warm light that still renders honestly, which is not the usual pairing.

Dry interior only. ⭐ A pendant over a domestic island is fine — it sits away from the steam. ⚠ Directly over a range or in a commercial kitchen it is not. ⭐ Nor a bathroom or an alfresco area.
1.2 m suspended LED linear pendant. 2160 lm, 24 W, 3000 K, CRI90. 120° down-only. IP20. 1200 mm. 3 m drop. PLEX-COB-20W strip, integral dimmable driver, DALI and emergency on request. White body, flat diffuser. 3-year replacement warranty. Order code MAXI-40-1.2M-FD-W-3K. SKUs 30140–30143. 240 V. ⭐ 2160 lm over a 1.8 m island at 750 mm is a comfortable WORKING level — enough to chop, read a recipe and see into a pan. ⚠ It is too much for eating under: dimmed to roughly a third it becomes dining light. ⭐ So the dimmer is part of the fitting, not an accessory — and the minimum level Domus reaches is not published, so tell us the dimmer you plan to use.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Over a 1.8m island at about 750mm above the bench, yes — it gives a comfortable working level, enough to chop, read a recipe and see into a pan. For a longer island, two of these is 4320 lumens, or step up to the 1.7m version at 3060 lumens in a single fitting.
At full output, yes — that is task lighting. Dimmed to roughly a third it becomes dining light, and dimmed further it is background. Which is why the dimmer is part of the fitting rather than an accessory: the same pendant has to do both jobs in most kitchens.
It ships with an integral dimmable driver, so a domestic trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmer works. What is not published is the minimum level Domus reaches, and that is the figure that decides whether the bottom of the range is genuinely low or stops short. Tell us the dimmer you plan to use and we will confirm compatibility and the minimum with Domus before you order.
Because food is judged under it. CRI90 renders colour close to natural light, so meat, vegetables and fruit read correctly for freshness — where CRI80, which is what most commercial linear lighting publishes including the Domus MAX-50 profile range, flattens reds in particular. And at 3000K you get warm light that still renders honestly, which is not the usual pairing.
No. It is IP20, dry interior only, and directly over a range it is in the steam and grease. A pendant over a domestic island is fine because it sits away from that; a commercial kitchen is not, and neither is a bathroom or an alfresco area. That distinction is worth naming because "kitchen" covers both cases.
Against a white or plasterboard ceiling a white body recedes, so what the room sees is the lit line rather than the fitting — which in a home is usually the point. Aluminium on the same ceiling reads as a grey line and black becomes a deliberate graphic statement; both are fine if chosen on purpose.
About 750mm from the benchtop to the bottom of the fitting over an island, and nearer 800mm over a dining table. The 3m suspension drop supplied covers any normal ceiling and is shortened on site. What Domus does not publish is the suspension-point spacing or the weight, and both are needed before the ceiling closes — ask us.
