What does IP20 mean in practice?

The first digit means it is protected against solid objects above 12mm — fingers, not dust. The second digit is a zero, which means no protection against water at all. So it is a dry-interior fitting, and that is a published figure rather than an unknown, which means you can design around it with confidence instead of asking.

Where must it not go?

Bathrooms, ensuites and laundries, where steam and splash apply and zone rules bite. Covered outdoor areas, alfresco spaces and patios — wind-driven rain reaches further than people expect. Commercial kitchens, with steam, grease and washdown. Unsealed warehouse and workshop bays, because IP2x is not dust-protected. And carparks or loading areas, which combine damp, dust and impact risk.

Is a kitchen alright?

A domestic one usually is; a commercial one is not. A pendant over a home island sits away from the steam and the splash, and IP20 is normal for that position. A fitting over a commercial pass or range is in the steam, and needs a rating this does not have. That distinction is worth naming because "kitchen" covers both.

What should I use in the excluded positions?

Ask us about the Domus IMPACT range — IP66 and IK10, both published, and built for hosing and knocks. It is a different product family designed for exactly the conditions this one is not, so the substitution is straightforward rather than a compromise.

How much light does it give?

2400 lumens at 2000 lumens per metre, from 24W at 4000K and CRI90. The 3000K version of the same fitting gives 2160 lumens, so 4000K is worth about 11% more light for the same power. Over a 1.8m desk or island that is a comfortable working level.

What suspension is supplied?

A 3m drop, which is generous and can be shortened on site, so a standard ceiling and a tall space are both workable from the same fitting. The mounting-point spacing and the weight are not published, and those are the two an installer needs before the ceiling closes — ask us for both.

What is the warranty?

Three years, replacement type, which is the right form of cover for an integrated LED with no serviceable lamp. The rated lifespan is the one figure Domus does not publish for this range.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
