The Domus Maxi 40 is a 1.2 m suspended LED linear pendant — 24 W, 2160 lm, 3000 K at CRI90, dimmable, in an aluminium body with a low diffuser.

What is a COB strip?

Chip-on-board. Many small emitters are mounted directly on the board and covered by a single continuous phosphor layer, rather than being separately packaged LEDs spaced along a strip. The engine here is a PLEX-COB-20W. The visible result is a continuous lit line rather than a row of dots — even behind a light diffuser and even at a shallow viewing angle, you see an unbroken band.

Does that change which finish I should pick?

Yes, helpfully. The usual reason for picking a dense diffuser is to hide individual LEDs, and on a COB strip there are no dots to hide. So the finish choice comes down to glare control and appearance rather than concealing the source, which frees you to take a lighter diffuser and keep more of the 2160 lumens. Frosted is the sensible default; prismatic over screens and desks.

Is clear acceptable on a COB strip?

Less alarming than it would be on discrete LEDs, because there are no bright points to stare at — but it is still an undiffused source and will glare from below. We would still avoid it anywhere people sit beneath or beside the fitting, and reserve it for positions well above the eye line where the visual effect is the point.

Why do all the Domus linear ranges draw 20 watts per metre?

Because they share the same engine. The PLEX-COB-20W strip is rated at 20 watts per metre, so a 1.2m fitting draws 24W, a 1.7m draws 34W and a 2.4m draws 48W — across the Maxi 40, the Maxi 50 and the Maxi Curve alike. That is why the wattage tables are identical between ranges, and why a load calculation is simply total metres times 20.

How much light does it give?

2160 lumens at 1800 lumens per metre, or 90 lumens per watt, at CRI90 and 3000K. The 4000K version of the same fitting gives 2400 lumens for the same 24W, which is about 11% more light — worth knowing if output matters more than warmth in your space.

What is the warranty?

Three years, replacement type — the right form of cover for an integrated LED, since there is no serviceable lamp and a failure means a new fitting. The rated lifespan is the one figure Domus does not publish for this range, so ask us if you need it for a maintenance budget.

Can I use it outside or in a bathroom?

No — IP20, dry interior only. That is a published figure rather than an unknown, so you can design around it confidently. For damp, covered outdoor or washdown positions, ask us about the Domus IMPACT range, which is IP66 and IK10.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
