• ⭐ Round diffuses more evenly than tapered. A frosted C35 candle still has a bright tip and a dimmer base; ⭐ a frosted G45 glows evenly from every angle.
• ⭐ Which makes it the one to choose when the fitting is mediocre or the position awkward — an open shade that shows the lamp, a fitting seen from below and from the side, a holder that sits at an angle.
• ⭐ It is also the safest choice when you do not know how the lamp will be seen, which on a replacement order is often the case.
• ⚠ What you give up is the filament. ⭐ If the visible glowing element is the reason you are buying, use the clear version.

⭐ G45 or C35 — shape, not specification

• A G45 is a 45 mm sphere; a C35 is a tapered candle. ⭐ Same 4.2 W, same family, same base options.
• ⭐ Sphere for exposed pendants, cage lights, bare-lamp rows and modern multi-lights. ⭐ Candle for chandeliers, candelabra and traditional wall brackets.

⭐ Modern filament, not "retro vintage"

LF-type filament runs 103–135 lm/W; the “retro vintage” LRF range runs 28–52 — ⭐ roughly a quarter the light per watt, ⛔ and nothing in the catalogue says so. ⚠ A frosted retro lamp would be the dimmest combination available: a decorative glow, further softened. ⭐ This is the modern kind.

• ⭐ 2700 K for anything domestic — warm and slightly amber.
• ⚠ 6500 K is cold blue-white. ⭐ Frosting hides the mismatch better than clear glass does, because you are not looking at an amber element producing daylight light — ⚠ but the light in the room is still cold.
