A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus KEY is a 3 W MR11 LED globe — 12 V DC, 38° beam, 240 lm, IP54, in 6000 K. Not dimmable.
| This listing (6000 K) | 65016 (3000 K) | |
|---|---|---|
| Sheet item table | 65016, 65017 | 65016, 65017 — ⭐ the same pair |
| Output | ⛔ 240 lm | ⛔ 300 lm |
| Warranty | ⛔ None recorded | ✅ 3 Years |
| Diameter | ⛔ Not recorded | ✅ Ø35 mm |
⛔ The record says “Indoor”; ✅ the sheet says IP54 — protected against dust and splashing water. ⭐ That is a genuinely useful rating on a small lamp, and it means this can go somewhere a bare MR11 could not: a covered step, a planter, a damp cabinet. ⚠ The driver still has to be sited dry.
3 W MR11 LED globe. 12 V DC. 240 lm. 38° beam. 6000 K. CRI ≥80. IP54. 35,000 hrs. Not dimmable. ⛔ THIS IS AN MR11 — its record says MR16, and the two do not interchange (35 mm against 50 mm). ⛔ It requires a 12 V DC CONSTANT-VOLTAGE driver, named on the datasheet and in no field — it will not run on mains or on a halogen transformer. ⚠ 6000 K is a cold white; a 3000 K version exists. ⛔ THIS LAMP PAIR HAS TWO DATASHEETS THAT DISAGREE — 240 lm here against 300 lm on the 3000 K listing. Assume 240–300 lm. ⛔ No warranty recorded here, though the 3000 K version records 3 years — ask us.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
An MR11 — the title, the model and the datasheet all say so. The lamp-type field says MR16, and that is wrong. It matters because they are different lamps: an MR11 is about 35mm across and an MR16 about 50mm, so an MR11 rattles in an MR16 fitting and an MR16 will not go into an MR11 one. This is a defect that ends in a returned part, which is why we are stating it rather than quietly publishing the right value. If your fitting takes MR16, tell us and we will send the right lamp.
A 12V DC constant-VOLTAGE LED driver, sized above your total lamp load — the datasheet requires it and no product field mentions it. Two things it will not run on: mains, obviously, and an old halogen transformer, because those put out AC and expect a much larger load than a 3W lamp can provide. Also make sure it is constant-voltage rather than constant-current; the two are not interchangeable and the distinction is easy to miss. Tell us how many you are running and we will size it with you — this is the commonest way a low-voltage LED installation goes wrong.
Probably not, if it is domestic or joinery. 6000K is a cold, blue-white light: it suits display of cool-toned goods, technical and inspection work, and marine or signage use, but it makes timber, food and warm materials look grey. The datasheet lists a 3000K version of the same lamp — same beam, same output, completely different result. If this is going into cabinetry or a home, ask us for that one.
Between 240 and 300 lumens, and we would rather give you the range than a false precision. This lamp pair has two listings and two datasheets that each name both SKUs — one pair described twice — and they disagree by 25%: this one says 240lm and the 3000K listing says 300lm. We cannot tell which is right and we will not average them. Either way it is modest by design: an MR11 is a placement tool rather than a room light. At one metre the 38° beam lights a pool roughly 0.7m across, so aim it at something and plan on several — which is also why sizing the driver correctly matters.
Size. An MR11 is about 35mm across against an MR16's 50mm, so it hides where the larger lamp cannot — display cases, shelving, joinery, plinths and step lighting. You give up output: 240 lumens here against several hundred from a typical MR16. If the fitting can take an MR16 and you need the light, that is the better lamp; if the constraint is the aperture, this is the one.
It is rated IP54 — protected against dust and splashing water — which is genuinely useful on a lamp this small and means it can go somewhere a bare MR11 could not: a covered step, a planter, a damp cabinet. The record says "Indoor", but that field holds "Indoor" on 340 of 342 Domus records and carries no information; read the IP rating instead. The driver still has to be sited dry.
No — it is explicitly non-dimmable, which is worth checking before you design a scheme around it. On a low-voltage run the dimming would have to happen at the driver in any case, and this lamp is not built for it. If you need dimmable low-voltage accent lighting, tell us what you are doing and we will suggest a lamp and driver combination that works together.
