The Domus KEY-GU10-TRIO is a 6 W LED globe on a GU10 base, running directly on 240 V, with a 60° beam, dimming, and switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 6500 K.

✅ A colour switch on the globe itself — which is rarer than it sounds. Most GU10s are one fixed colour, so changing the character of a room means buying new lamps.

This one has a dip switch on the globe. Flick it before it goes in and the same lamp gives warm white, neutral white or cool white. ✅ That is genuinely useful in a rental, in a room whose use changes, or when you are unsure which temperature suits a space — buy one, try it, and set the rest to match.

⚠ Set every globe in a run the same way, and do it before they go up. One lamp on the wrong setting in a row of downlights is unmissable.

What it replaces
  • 500 lm at 3000 K, 550 lm at 4000 K and 6500 K from 6 W — roughly a 50 W halogen GU10 at about an eighth of the power.
  • ✅ No driver, no transformer. GU10 is the 240 V twist-lock base, so it wires straight in — the simplest retrofit there is.
  • 50,000 hours, which is unusually long for a retrofit globe. ✅ Most filament and low-voltage lamps in this catalogue are 15,000; this one matches an integrated fitting.
  • CRI ≥80, SMD, IP20.
The 60° beam
  • Wider than a typical halogen GU10, which threw around 36°.
  • ✅ Better for general room lighting and washing a surface — fewer dark gaps between fittings, and a softer edge to each pool of light.
  • ⛔ Not an accent beam. If you were picking out artwork or a splashback with a narrow halogen, this will spread more than you expect. Ask us for a narrower optic if that is the job.
Choosing the setting
  • 3000 K — 500 lm. Living areas, bedrooms, hallways. The default in a home.
  • 4000 K — 550 lm. Kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, home offices.
  • ⚠ 6500 K — 550 lm. A cold daylight white, colder than the 5000–5700 K most of this catalogue offers as its third step. Garages, workshops and inspection work — it will look wrong in a living space.
Dimming

Fully dimmable with suitable dimmers.

  • ⚠ 6 W is a small load. A single globe can sit below a trailing-edge dimmer's minimum, which shows as flicker or a dimmer with no useful bottom end. A run of four or more usually behaves.
  • ✅ Tell us the count and the dimmer and we will say before you buy both.
  • ⚠ The colour switch is not a dimmer and does not change with the dimmer — the lamp dims within whichever colour you set it to.
⚠ One dimension worth confirming

Our record carries two different lengths for this globe — 65 mm and 55 mm. 55 mm is the conventional GU10 length and the one we would expect.

Questions
Does it need a driver or transformer?

No. GU10 is the 240 V twist-lock base, so it wires straight into a standard holder with nothing between it and the mains — the simplest retrofit there is. If your fitting is 12 V with two straight pins, that is MR16 and this will not fit it.

How do I change the colour temperature?

A dip switch on the globe itself, set before it goes into the fitting. That is rarer than it sounds — most GU10s are one fixed colour, so changing the character of a room usually means buying new lamps. Buy one, try it in the room, then set the rest to match. Do the whole run the same way: one lamp on the wrong setting in a row of downlights is unmissable.

What does it replace?

Roughly a 50 W halogen GU10, at about an eighth of the power. The bigger difference in practice is the 50,000-hour life, which is unusually long for a retrofit globe — most filament and low-voltage lamps in this catalogue are rated 15,000, so this one matches an integrated fitting rather than a lamp.

Will the beam be the same as my halogen?

Wider. This is 60° where a halogen GU10 typically threw around 36°. That is better for general room lighting and for washing a surface — fewer dark gaps between fittings and a softer edge to each pool — but if you were using a narrow halogen to pick out artwork or a splashback, this will spread more than you expect. Ask us for a narrower optic if that is the job.

Is 6500 K too cold for a house?

For living spaces, yes. 6500 K is a cold daylight white, colder than the 5000 to 5700 K most of this catalogue offers as its third step. It belongs in garages, workshops and inspection work. In a home, 3000 K for living areas and bedrooms and 4000 K for kitchens and bathrooms are the useful settings.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
