Domus EMIT 55mm 2.5W 36° LED TRIO 12/24V Decklight

The Domus EMIT-55 is a 55 mm inground light — 2.5 W, CREE LED, IP67, IK10, CRI ≥90, with nine fascia plates and four metalware finishes. Tri-colour 3000 / 4000 / 5500 K.

⛔ The fascia you pick changes the output by 54 times

• ⛔ Round Open against 1 Way is 54 times. Same fitting, same wattage — the fascia is a dropdown choice, and nothing in the option names suggests the difference.
• ⛔ This listing records no lumen figure at all, so the table exists only on the datasheet.
• ⭐ What the numbers actually mean: the open fascias let the whole 2.5 W out and light a surface; the multiway fascias emit through one to four narrow slots and are markers, not lights. They are meant to be seen, not to illuminate.
• ⚠ So decide what the fitting is for before you pick a fascia. Washing a wall or uplighting a tree needs Round or Square Open. Marking a path edge or a step needs a multiway or a Halo.
• ⚠ One oddity we cannot explain: the multiway figures are not in order — 1 Way 2.5 lm, 2 Way 5.4, 3 Way 4.0, 4 Way 4.4. Flagged rather than reconciled; if you are calculating to a lux level, ask us to confirm with Domus.
• ⚠ Note also that only the open and eyelid fascias gain output at cooler settings. The multiway, Halo and Ring figures are identical across all three colour temperatures.

⛔ The cutout changes if you add the cannister — and the cannister is sold separately

• Ø43 mm without the cannister. Ø48 mm with it.
• ⛔ The cannister is a variant of the separate EMIT 55mm Accessories listing, so the part that changes the cutout is a different purchase — and neither figure is in a product field.
• ⚠ Decide before you cut. A Ø43 mm hole cannot later accept a cannister without being opened out, and in a poured or paved surface that is not a small job.
• ⭐ What the cannister does is give the fitting a sealed sleeve to sit in, which keeps soil and water off the body and makes the fitting removable later. In a garden bed or a paved area it is usually worth having.

⭐ The beam angle is an accessory, not a fixed specification

• 19° · 36° · 60°, with 36° supplied as standard. The other two are lenses on the accessories listing.
• ⭐ So the beam can be changed after installation without lifting the fitting out of the ground — which on an inground light is unusually useful, because you rarely know the right angle until the planting has grown.
• ⭐ 19° for a tall narrow subject (a column, a palm trunk), 36° general, 60° for a wide low subject (a shrub, a wall panel).
• ⭐ A honeycomb louvre and a linear lens are also available — the honeycomb cuts glare when the fitting is walked past, the linear lens stretches the beam into an ellipse for a wall or a hedge.

Specifying it

• IP67 and IK10 — ⭐ IK10 is the top impact rating, which on a fitting set into a surface people walk and drive over is the specification that matters as much as the IP.
• CRI ≥90 — ⭐ high, and it earns its keep on planting and stonework.
• 2.5 W, 12 or 24 V DC. 50,000 hrs. ⛔ Not dimmable.
• ⛔ Requires a 12 or 24 V constant-voltage LED driver, wired in parallel. ⭐ The sheet notes it works with an AC/DC driver but recommends a Domus DC driver.
• ⚠ Our record holds two colour temperatures (3000 K and 4000 K); the fitting switches three.
• ⛔ No warranty recorded.

Where it works

• Uplighting trees, columns and walls — with an open fascia.
• Marking paths, steps and driveways — with a multiway or Halo fascia.
• Paved and trafficked areas — IK10.
• ⚠ Not with a multiway fascia where you need light — 2.5 lm is a marker.
• ⚠ Not cut to Ø43 mm if a cannister may be wanted later.
