The BLAZE-PRO PE Cell is a plug-and-play photoelectric daylight sensor that turns any BLAZE-PRO floodlight into a dusk-to-dawn fitting. IP65, with four selectable lux thresholds set by remote.

⭐ What it does, and why the sensor adaptor interface matters
  • ✅ It switches the floodlight on as daylight falls and off as it rises — no timer to reset twice a year, no contactor, no separate control wiring.
  • ⭐ Every BLAZE-PRO carries a sensor adaptor interface, which is what makes this plug-and-play rather than an electrician’s job. It fits the range, not one model.
  • ✅ Which is the practical argument for the BLAZE-PRO range generally: you can specify the plain fitting now and add dusk-to-dawn control later without replacing anything.
  • Four lux thresholds — 10, 20, 50 or 100 lux, selected by remote. The default is 20 lux.
⛔ It needs a battery that does not come with it

The remote that sets the lux level requires a CR2025 coin cell, and it is not included.

  • ⛔ Without it the sensor works but cannot be adjusted — it runs on its 20 lux default and stays there.
  • ⚠ 20 lux is a reasonable default and many installations would never change it. But if you want the light coming on earlier (100 lux) or holding off until properly dark (10 lux), you need the battery on site.
  • ⭐ This is on the datasheet and in no product field. Buy a CR2025 with it — it costs very little and it is a wasted trip otherwise.

⭐ The threshold is also the run-hours dial. On a fitting rated to 20,000 hours, choosing 10 lux over 100 lux measurably extends the replacement interval — and reduces complaints from neighbours about a floodlight coming on in the afternoon.

Specifying it
  • IP65 — ⚠ one step below the IP66 floodlight it mounts on. Still a genuine outdoor rating, but the sensor is now the weakest point of the assembly. Worth knowing on a wash-down or fully exposed site.
  • Operating range −30 °C to 40 °C; installation height ≤8 m for the floodlight.
  • Remote control distance 0–8 m — ⚠ you must be able to get within 8 m of the fitting to change the setting, which on a high mounting means a ladder or a long reach.
  • Adjustment: loosen the M4 set screw with a 2 mm Allen key to aim it. ⭐ Have the key on site — it is not the size most people carry.
  • ⚠ The datasheet also quotes an installation height of 1.8–4 m, a 120° field and a sensitivity distance of 2–8 m. Those are motion-sensor figures rather than photoelectric-cell ones, and they sit alongside the dusk-to-dawn description on the same document. If you need motion detection rather than daylight switching, ask us which accessory you actually want — Domus makes more than one.
⛔ Two record entries that are not true of a sensor
  • ⛔ “Built-in LED” as the bulb type. It is a control accessory — nothing in it lights up. The eighth product in this catalogue carrying a lamp type on hardware with no lamp.
  • ⛔ “Indoor” as the application, on an IP65 outdoor daylight sensor. That field holds “Indoor” on 340 of 342 Domus records.
Where it works
  • Yards, car parks and driveways that should light at dusk without anyone switching.
  • Sites where a timer keeps drifting — a photoelectric cell tracks the real seasons, a timer does not.
  • Retrofit onto an installed BLAZE-PRO, using the sensor adaptor interface.
  • ⚠ Not where motion switching is what you actually want — this is daylight switching; it will stay on all night.
  • ⚠ Not on a mounting you cannot get within 8 m of if you intend to change the setting.

Questions
Do I need a battery?

Yes — a CR2025 coin cell for the remote, and it is not included. Buy one with the sensor. Without it the sensor still works, but it runs on its 20 lux factory default and you cannot change the threshold, because the remote is the only way to set it. This is on the datasheet and in no product field, and it is a wasted trip if you find out on site.

Which lux setting should I choose?

The default 20 lux suits most installations — it brings the light on at normal dusk. Choose 50 or 100 lux if the site is overshadowed or you want light before you need it, and 10 lux if you want to minimise run hours and light spill onto neighbours. It is worth treating as the run-hours dial: on a fitting rated to 20,000 hours, 10 lux against 100 lux measurably extends the replacement interval.

Will it fit the floodlight I already have?

If it is a BLAZE-PRO, yes. Every model in the range carries a sensor adaptor interface, which is what makes this plug-and-play rather than an electrician's job — and it is a good argument for the range generally, because you can specify the plain fitting now and add dusk-to-dawn control later without replacing anything. Tell us the model and we will confirm.

Does it detect movement?

It should not — it is a photoelectric cell, which switches on daylight level rather than motion, so the light comes on at dusk and stays on until dawn. Worth flagging, though: this accessory's datasheet also quotes a 120° field and a 2–8m sensitivity distance, which are motion-sensor figures sitting alongside the dusk-to-dawn description on the same page. If motion switching is what you actually want, ask us which accessory you need — Domus makes more than one.

Does it lower the IP rating of the assembly?

Slightly, and it is worth knowing. The sensor is IP65 where the BLAZE-PRO floodlights are IP66, so once fitted the sensor is the weakest point of the assembly. IP65 is still a genuine outdoor rating and fine for rain and general exposure. On a wash-down site or a fully exposed coastal position, that one step matters.

How do I aim it?

Loosen the M4 set screw with a 2mm Allen key and adjust. Have the key on site — 2mm is not the size most people carry in a van, and it is the difference between finishing the job and coming back. Note also that the remote only works within 8m of the fitting, so on a high mounting you need to be able to get close enough to set the lux level.

Is it better than a timer?

For dusk-to-dawn, yes, and for one specific reason: a photoelectric cell tracks the actual seasons and a timer does not. A timer set in summer has the light coming on an hour late by mid-winter, and someone has to remember to reset it twice a year. The cell simply reads the light level. Where a timer still wins is when you want the light off at a fixed hour rather than at dawn — this will run all night.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
