A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Dome is a recessed deck and step light that throws its light in one direction rather than in a ring. That is the whole point of the fitting: set into a riser, a deck board or a retaining wall, it puts light onto the surface in front of it and keeps the source out of the eyeline of anyone walking toward it. A conventional round deck light lights the walker as much as the walkway; a one-way fitting does not.
The face is aluminium on a polycarbonate body, rated IP65 for dust and jetted water and IK08 for impact — the rating that matters for something set flush into a surface people stand on. It is sold in silver and black.
The Dome draws 3W. It is a tri-colour fitting, so the colour temperature is selected at installation rather than fixed at manufacture: 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, with output at 180lm, 185lm and 190lm respectively. For a step light those figures are the right order of magnitude — a deck light bright enough to read by is a deck light that dazzles, and a run of them at 180lm marks the edge of a step without turning the deck into a stage. The beam is 120° and colour rendering is above 80 CRI.
Rated lamp expectancy is >30,000 hrs. The LED is built in, so there is no globe to buy and none to replace — which matters more than usual here, because a recessed fitting in a deck board is not something you want to be servicing.
The Dome runs on 12V DC. It does not connect to mains, and the required 12V DC driver is not supplied with the fitting, so it has to be specified separately or already be present on the run. It is a Class 3 low-voltage fitting, which is why it suits decking and steps: the wiring in the walking surface is low voltage.
If you are adding Dome lights to an existing low-voltage run, check what capacity is left on the installed driver before ordering, since a string of small fittings is easy to over-subscribe. The installation is still work for a licensed electrician.
The Dome needs a 26mm cutout — a single clean hole through the board or riser. Drill a test hole in an offcut before committing to the deck itself, and set out the whole run before drilling any of them, because a recessed fitting cannot be nudged along afterwards the way a surface-mounted one can.
The fitting is covered by a 3 year replacement warranty. Lights For You keeps both finishes on hand, and in practice the choice is made by the decking: silver reads as a deliberate detail on hardwood, black tends to vanish into a dark composite board.
A 26mm cutout.
No. The Dome runs on 12V DC and the driver is not supplied with the fitting.
No. It is a 12V DC Class 3 fitting and must be run from a 12V DC driver.
One way. The Dome directs its output in a single direction rather than emitting all round, so it lights the surface in front of it instead of shining back at the person walking toward it.
No. The 3W LED module is built into the fitting.
