Desota Gypsum Indoor Wall Light

The Desota is a 218 mm wide gypsum wall light in a sand finish — a low, horizontal rectangle projecting only 75 mm.

Gypsum takes paint, and that is the point

Gypsum is plaster. Painted in the wall colour it disappears into the surface, reading as an aperture of light rather than a fitting. That is why plaster wall lights are specified architecturally, and it is something no metal or glass fitting can do.

Wide and low, where the others are tall

Telbix makes three gypsum wall lights and they are different shapes. Desota is the horizontal one — 218 mm wide and only 75 mm high, so it draws a broad low band of light. The Tolard is the upright rectangle; the Ovita is small and curved. Choose by the shape of light you want on the wall.

Sand finish, even unpainted

The raw surface is sand-textured rather than smooth, so it already reads as wall rather than object. Left white it stays quiet; painted, it vanishes.

75 mm off the wall

Shallow enough not to catch a shoulder in a corridor, which is exactly where a bulkier wall light becomes a nuisance.

One G9 globe, not supplied

9 W maximum. G9 is a small bi-pin capsule, not interchangeable with any screw base. Buying several for a corridor? Take the globes from one batch.
