The Domus DECO-ADAP is a Ø140 mm adaptor plate that lets a DECO-13 round downlight be installed in a cutout of Ø110–130 mm. 27 mm deep, in black or white.

✅ This is the part that saves a ceiling someone has already cut too big. A DECO-13 needs a Ø90 mm hole (or Ø95 mm for the tilt version). If the existing hole is anywhere between Ø110 mm and Ø130 mm — because an older, larger downlight came out of it, or because a hole saw wandered — this plate covers the gap and takes the fitting.

Ø140 mm across, 27 mm deep. ⚠ That cutout range is on the datasheet and in no product field, so it will not appear in any specification pulled from our record. Measure your hole and tell us the number — if it is outside 110–130 mm this is the wrong part and we will say so.

When you need one
  • ✅ Replacing old, large-aperture downlights — 50 W halogen fittings and older LED units often sat in holes far larger than a modern Ø90 mm.
  • ✅ Repairing a cutting mistake without patching and repainting a ceiling.
  • ✅ Standardising a mixed ceiling — where a room has been re-lamped in stages and the holes are not all the same size.
  • ⚠ It is visible. At Ø140 mm the plate is wider than the fitting, so a run of them alongside plain DECO-13s will not look identical. Either use them consistently across a room, or accept the difference.
Measuring before you order
  • Measure the hole, not the old fitting. The trim on the old downlight is usually wider than the aperture behind it.
  • Measure across two axes. Holes cut by hand are rarely round, and the larger figure is the one that matters.
  • ⚠ Between Ø110 and Ø130 mm, this is the part. Under Ø110 mm the DECO-13 may fit directly; over Ø130 mm, tell us and we will look for another answer.
What it does not change
  • It does not change the fitting's performance — output, colour, beam and IP rating are all the DECO-13's.
  • ⚠ It adds 27 mm at the ceiling line, which sits below the plasterboard rather than above it, so it does not affect the void depth the fitting needs.
  • ✅ It is available in black and white to match the two DECO-13 finishes.

You need two things: the DECO-13 downlight and this plate, in matching finishes.

What hole size does it suit?

Ø110–130 mm. The plate itself is Ø140 mm across and 27 mm deep, so it covers a hole in that range and takes the DECO-13 in the middle. Measure your hole across two axes — holes cut by hand are rarely round and the larger figure is the one that matters. Note that range is on the datasheet and in no product field, so it will not appear in a specification pulled from our record.

Does the downlight come with it?

No — this is the plate only, and the DECO-13 downlight is sold separately. Tell us how many holes, what size they are and which finish you want, and we will quote both together in matching black or white.

Why would I need one?

Because the hole in the ceiling is already bigger than the fitting needs. That usually happens when old 50 W halogen downlights or older large-aperture LED units come out, or when a hole saw has wandered. The alternative is patching and repainting the ceiling, which is a far bigger job than a Ø140 mm plate.

What cutout does the DECO-13 need on its own?

Ø90 mm for the fixed version and Ø95 mm for the tilt version — the two are not the same, which is worth knowing before anyone cuts. If your ceiling is not yet cut, you do not need this plate at all.

My hole is 135 mm — will it still work?

No, and we would rather tell you than sell you a plate that does not cover. The range is Ø110–130 mm. Tell us the actual measurement and we will look for another answer — there are larger-aperture fittings that may suit the hole you already have.

Will it look obvious?

Somewhat. At Ø140 mm the plate is visibly wider than the fitting, so a run of adapted downlights beside plain DECO-13s will not look identical. Either use them consistently across a room, or accept the difference. It is still far less obvious than a patched and repainted ceiling.

Does it affect the light or the ceiling void?

Neither. Output, colour temperature, beam angle and IP rating are all the DECO-13's and unchanged. The 27 mm sits below the plasterboard rather than above it, so the void depth the fitting needs is the same as without the plate.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
