The Darien PE8 is an 860 mm eight-light pendant with a Canadian ash outer ring and square-tube iron arms — eight E14 globes to 25 W each, not supplied, on a 2,000 mm suspension.

This is the size most rooms actually want.

At 860 mm it suits a standard dining table without dominating the room, where the 1.21-metre twelve-light needs a large space and real ceiling height. And at 8.57 kg it is five kilograms lighter, which is a genuine difference to the fixing.

⚠ 8.57 kilograms, and no page or record carried the figure. That is still well past a ceiling rose or a plasterboard anchor, and on a two-metre suspension the mount takes movement as well as dead weight. Tell your electrician 8.57 kg and 860 mm across before the ceiling is opened.

The globe recommendation our page was cut off making

It stopped at “casting a warm, inviting—”. Almost no product in this catalogue recommends a globe at all, and this one was making a good one. In full:

Use candle-shaped E14 globes, not round ones.

  • A candle globe stands upright on the ring, so the eight read as a crown of small flames around a timber circle.
  • A round golf-ball globe works electrically and breaks that line.
  • Warm 2700 K — against ash, cool white turns the timber grey.
  • Clear or lightly frosted: the globes are exposed, so they are part of the design. A decorative LED filament suits it.
  • Buy all eight together, same brand — eight visible globes show any mismatch.

Canadian ash, and why the species is named

The ring is real timber — Canadian ash, which is pale with a straight, open grain. It reads clean and contemporary where a darker or figured timber would read rustic, and against black square-tube iron arms that pale ring is what makes the Darien farmhouse without being country.

Every ring is different, so yours will not match the photograph exactly — the point of real wood rather than a fault. Our product record carried no material at all; the page had it.

Eight globes, 200 watts of capacity

Eight E14 to 25 W each — 200 W total, not supplied. With LED candles at 4 to 6 W the real draw is around 40 W, a fifth of the rating, so the fitting runs cool.

It dims, with the right globes — and neither our record nor the specification table mentioned dimming at all. The datasheet says globe dependent, which is right.

Over a dining table, with eight exposed globes, that is the difference between a chandelier and a glare source. Eight LEDs on one dimmer wants a matched set — ask us.

Which Darien size should I choose?

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
