The Cosca EX145 is a 260 mm exterior wall light with smoke glass in black — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied — IP43.
IP43, not IP44. IP44 covers splashing water from any direction; IP43 covers only spraying water up to 60° from vertical — downward, not sideways. So: under a porch roof, verandah or deep eave, yes; an exposed wall taking wind-driven rain, no. One digit, and on a fitting people hang beside a front door it is worth reading twice.
Both Coscas take the same E27 globe to 25 W, so the light source is identical and only the body grows. What changes is how much tinted glass the light passes through and how the fitting reads on the wall.
⚠ Size the globe generously. Smoke glass is tinted and absorbs a substantial share of the output. On the smaller Cosca, with less glass area, the fitting is already a modest entry light — and the tint takes more of it away. A globe you would choose for a clear lantern will read noticeably dimmer here.
Buy the small Cosca for the proportion — a narrower wall, a tighter entry, a run of several along a facade — not because you want less light than the large one, since the globe is the same.
A short arm holding a downward-facing body with a wider bottom, so light is thrown down and outward onto the step and the wall below rather than up into the sky. That is the correct behaviour beside a door: you see the threshold and the person standing there, and the fitting does not glare at anyone approaching. The shape also sheds water rather than collecting it, which on an IP43 fitting is worth having.
145 mm wide, at 1.3 kg. The 140 mm projection is 30 mm shallower than the large version's, which is the practical reason to choose it for a narrow path, a side passage or beside a doorframe where the bigger fitting would be in the way.
Choose the globe carefully — it is not supplied. Use an LED rated for ENCLOSED fittings: the Cosca is a sealed lantern, and heat with nowhere to go kills LED globes. Never an incandescent. Ask us and we will match one, sized for the smoke tint.
The globe is replaceable, which most exterior fittings here are not — nearly every other outdoor light in this range has a sealed integrated LED that ends the fitting when it fails.
Class I — earth required and hard-wired, so a licensed electrician installs it. Dimming depends on the globe.
260 mm high by 145 mm wide, projection 140 mm, 1.3 kg, in aluminium and smoke glass, black. One E27 globe to 25 W, NOT supplied and replaceable; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP43 — rated against DOWNWARD spray only; covered positions. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Not by design — both take the same E27 globe to 25 W, so the light source is identical and only the body grows. Buy the small one for the proportion: a narrower wall, a tighter entry, a run along a facade.
Rated against spraying water up to 60 degrees from vertical only — downward, not sideways — where the more common IP44 covers splashing from any direction. Under a porch roof, verandah or deep eave, fine; an exposed wall taking wind-driven rain, no.
Because there is less of it and less light to spare. The tint absorbs a substantial share of the output, and on the smaller fitting — already a modest entry light — a globe you would choose for a clear lantern will read noticeably dimmer. Size it generously.
