The Domus CHESTER 2LT 2.47 m is the tallest twin-head post in the range — 660 mm across the two lanterns, die-cast aluminium with moulded acrylic lenses, IP43, taking two B22 lamps.
Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.
Its datasheet carries a line reading “Requires: Lamp GT-131 Wall Bracket Straight Arm Facing Up”. GT-131 is the CHESTER series code, not a part number — every traditional-lantern family in this catalogue has one, and each has a matching GTA replacement diffuser.
The CHESTER head is sold as a wall bracket (four arm types), pillar mount, post top and pendant, plus singles at 1.32 / 1.96 / 2.37 m, twins at 1.49 / 2.11 / 2.47 m and 2.4 m curved, and triples at 2.47 m and 2.4 m curved. ⭐ There is also a CHESTER-LARGE range in the same style at a bigger scale. ⚠ No listing mentions any of the others.
Twin-head post light on a 2.47 m post. Die-cast aluminium with moulded acrylic lenses. IP43. 220–240 V AC. Two B22 lamps — not included. 660 mm wide, 2,420 mm recorded height. Made in Italy, assembled and powder-coated in Australia. Beige, Black, Burgundy, Green or White. ⚠ Warranty 1 year. ⛔ No per-lamp maximum wattage and no total is recorded. ⛔ No footing specification or wind rating, on the largest load in the range. ⭐ A GTA-131 replacement acrylic panel set is sold separately — the acrylic is what fails on these lanterns.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Yes, and it is the single most useful thing on this page. A GTA-131 panel set — the CHESTER series replacement acrylic diffuser — is sold separately. On a die-cast aluminium lantern the acrylic is what fails: UV yellows and embrittles it over years while the cast body lasts decades. So a tired-looking lantern is usually a lantern needing a lens rather than a new fitting. Ask us for the panel set.
No, and the explanation is more useful than the correction. The line reads "Requires: Lamp GT-131 Wall Bracket Straight Arm Facing Up", which is three separate things on the sheet run together: "Requires: Lamp", true because the lamp is not included; "GT-131", which is the CHESTER lantern series code; and the caption of one of the sheet's diagrams. Every traditional-lantern family in this catalogue has such a code, and each has a matching GTA replacement diffuser. Nothing extra is needed to install the post.
Not recorded on any CHESTER post, and this is the configuration where it matters most — two lanterns 660mm apart at 2,420mm is the largest sail area and the longest lever arm in the family. Nothing states the footing depth, base plate size, fixing pattern or wind rating. Tell us the site and the soil and we will get the detail from Domus before your concreter is there. A post that leans is worse than one that falls, because it looks wrong for years and nobody quite gets round to it.
Not recorded — no per-lamp figure and no total, in either the record or the datasheet. With two holders that is a circuit question rather than a globe one: two 60W incandescents would be 120W on one post and nothing confirms the fitting supports it. Two B22 LEDs at 9–11W each come to 18–22W between them and give plenty of light at this height. Ask us before fitting anything but LED.
Character, mostly. This straight-arm version is 2,420mm high and 660mm wide; the curved-arm twin is 2,350mm and 630mm, so it is slightly lower and narrower — but the real difference is the silhouette. Curved arms soften a tall post considerably, which matters on a frontage where a straight-armed twin at nearly 2.5m starts to read as municipal. On a long drive or a commercial approach the straight arm is fine and gives marginally wider coverage.
Probably. At 2.47m with two lanterns 660mm apart it belongs on a long driveway, a rural entrance or a commercial approach, where the height and spread both earn their keep. On a small frontage it dominates and reads as street lighting. The 2.11m twin covers a domestic driveway properly, and the 1.49m twin is the one for flanking a gate.
Yes, and above head height it shows more than it would lower down, because both lenses are in view at once. Two globes of different colour temperature on one post is immediately obvious after dark — one lantern warm, one cooler, on a fitting whose symmetry is the point. Buy them together, same brand and temperature, and keep a spare from the same batch.
