A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is the receiver half of a wireless lighting control. It wires into the run and acts on the signals a remote, app or panel sends it - it is the part that actually does the switching and dimming.
⚠ On its own it is not a control surface and not a power supply. It needs something to send it commands, and the lighting still needs its own supply.
This unit is built for RGB lighting.
⚠ The channel type has to match the strip. A RGB control on a strip with a different channel layout will drive the wrong channels or leave some of them dead.
It runs at 12V DC, supplied by the driver on the run.
It is made from plastic.
⚠ At IP20 this unit has no weather protection. It must be installed in a permanently dry indoor location.
A receiver is the half of the system nobody sees, and that is worth remembering when deciding where to put it. It goes into a ceiling, behind a fitting or inside joinery, and it stays there.
Pair it before it is installed. Pairing a unit sitting on a bench is straightforward; pairing one already sealed above a ceiling is a different job entirely.
⚠ Signal has to reach it. Metal, foil-backed insulation and concrete all cut wireless range, so a receiver buried behind any of them can work on the bench and fail in place.
The low-voltage side of a strip run is not mains work, but the driver feeding it still has to be wired by an electrician. Keep the unit accessible: it is the part most likely to need attention later.
Decide where it goes before the walls are finished. A control wants to be where people reach for it - by the door they come in through, not the one the wiring happened to arrive at.
No. It is a control unit. The lighting still needs whatever supply it normally uses - for LED strip, that means a driver.
It is built for RGB lighting. If your strip has a different channel layout the colours will not map correctly.
No. At IP20 it has no weather protection and must stay in a dry indoor location.
Not for this unit itself, but the driver or supply feeding the lighting is mains work and does need one.
