Charm Floor Lamp

The Charm FL is a 1,650 mm floor lamp with a 525 mm shade on a satin iron frame — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied — in taupe, vintage brass or black.

A wide shade, which changes what the lamp does

525 mm across on a 148 mm depth — that is a broad, shallow drum, not the narrow cone most floor lamps carry. A wide shade spreads light across a seating area rather than dropping it in a pool, so the Charm lights a sofa and the floor in front of it instead of one cushion. It is the difference between a reading lamp and a room lamp.

1,650 mm — standing height, not looming

The shade sits at about eye level for someone standing and well above a seated head, which is where you want a broad shade: you see the light, not the globe. On a 280 mm base it takes very little floor.

Three finishes that behave differently

Taupe is the quiet one — a grey-brown that disappears against most walls. Vintage brass is the warm one, and on a satin finish it reads as aged rather than shiny. Black draws the frame as a line. All three are satin, so none of them throw a hard reflection.

Dimming depends on the globe you fit

Fit a dimmable E27 and use a plug-in or inline dimmer and it dims; fit a plain globe and it will not. Our record says “No” against dimmable, which is misleading — the correct answer is globe dependent. Beside a sofa this is worth doing.
