Cell-D75 - Deep 75Mm Cut-Out Frame To Suit Cell Downlight Module Series

The Domus CELL-D75 is a deep 75 mm cut-out frame for the CELL downlight module series, 90 × 90 × 70 mm, in black or white.

What "deep" means here, and why you would want it

• 70 mm deep, against 50 mm for the CELL-S1 slotter frame at the same aperture range.
• ✅ Depth sets the lamp back from the ceiling line, which is what reduces glare at a shallow viewing angle — walking down a hallway towards a run of them, you see light rather than a row of bright points.
• ✅ It also shades the aperture, so the fitting reads as a dark recess when off rather than as a lit-looking hole.
• ⚠ The trade-off is void depth. 70 mm for the frame, plus the module and its driver above it. In a shallow ceiling the S1 is the shallower option.

Frame or complete downlight?

• ✅ Buy a frame and a module where the beam or colour may need to change, where the ceiling goes in now and the fitting later, or where maintenance access matters. ✅ It also lets you choose the beam angle — the module comes in 15°, 24°, 36° and 60°, where the assembled downlights are 60°.
• ✅ Buy a complete CELL downlight where you want one part number and a confirmed cutout.
• ⚠ A frame is not a light. The module and its driver are a separate purchase.

Which module goes in it

• CELL-9 (9 W) or CELL-13 (13 W), in any of the four beam angles, in Trio or DALI.
• ✅ Both Trio modules are Ø49.9 × 56 mm; ⚠ the DALI versions are 68 mm deep, so allow for that above the frame.
• ✅ Five switchable colour temperatures including 2700 K, whichever module you choose.
• ✅ Tell us the room and we will list the frame, the module and the beam so nothing turns up missing.

Planning the installation

• Cut Ø75 mm. The frame body is 90 × 90 mm, so it needs that much clearance between joists or battens.
• Allow 70 mm for the frame, plus the module and driver above.
• ⚠ Decide the module before cutting if you might use a different frame — the CELL-D90 frame takes Ø90 mm, and the two are not interchangeable once the hole is cut.
• ✅ Black recedes into the aperture and reduces the apparent glare of the module behind it; white disappears into a white ceiling. Match the frame to the module unless the contrast is deliberate.

Where it works

• ✅ Hallways and corridors — the depth earns its keep at a shallow viewing angle.
• ✅ Living areas, where a dark recess reads better than a bright aperture.
• ✅ Where the module type may need to change later without touching the ceiling.
• ✅ Where you want a beam angle other than 60°.
• ⛔ Not a light — the CELL module and driver are separate.
• ⚠ Not for a shallow void — the CELL-S1 is 50 mm.
