The Domus CELL-9 is a 9 W plug-and-play LED lamp module and driver set with five switchable colour temperatures and a choice of four beam angles — 15°, 24°, 36° or 60°.

⭐ Its datasheet carries an IC-4 rating — and because this is the module, that rating travels with the lamp rather than with one particular frame.

An IC rating tells you whether ceiling insulation may touch the fitting. In an insulated ceiling that is a compliance question rather than a preference: a fitting without one needs a physical clearance maintained around it, which means someone has to hold the batts back — and over the life of a house, they often do not.

✅ Almost nothing else in this catalogue states an IC rating at all. Tell us the frame you are pairing it with and we will confirm the rating for the assembly in writing, because the frame is part of the answer too.

✅ Most switchable fittings jump from 3000 K to neutral white. The 2700 K step is a visible difference in a bedroom, and on a staged renovation it lets you match the colour of the old fittings in the rooms you have not reached yet.

⛔ The beam angle is a variant, not a setting
  • Four part numbers — 15°, 24°, 36° and 60°.
  • 15° — a tight accent. Artwork, a single object, a very high ceiling.
  • 24° — a defined pool. Joinery, a bench, a display shelf.
  • 36° — the general-purpose choice on a standard ceiling.
  • 60° — a wide wash. General room lighting, fewer fittings.
  • ✅ Because the module is replaceable, the beam is a reversible decision — swap it later without touching the ceiling. That is the whole argument for buying modules rather than sealed downlights.
9 W or 13 W?
  • ✅ 9 W is the more common residential choice — standard ceilings, hallways, bedrooms, general lighting.
  • ✅ 13 W suits higher ceilings and commercial spaces, or where fewer fittings are wanted.
  • ✅ Both are Ø49.9 mm and 56 mm deep and take the same frames, so the wattage can be changed later by swapping the module alone.
  • ⚠ The DALI versions are deeper — 68 mm — which is the dimension that decides a retrofit.

The sheet's cutout line reads “L190 mm x W100 mm SLOTCELL-2-9W” — a rectangular two-light slot frame, not this round module.

  • ⛔ Do not cut to that figure. The module itself is Ø49.9 mm, 56 mm deep.
  • The cutout comes from the frame: a CELL-S1 or CELL-S2 takes Ø70–75 mm; the CELL-D75 frame states Ø75 mm and the CELL-D90 frame Ø90 mm.
  • ✅ Tell us the frame and we will confirm the cutout before anyone marks a ceiling.
What "plug and play module and driver set" means
  • It is a lamp and its driver, not a complete fitting. The module clicks into a frame, and the frame goes in the ceiling.
  • ✅ As a retrofit it replaces an MR16 halogen lamp and its transformer together — pull both out, put the CELL lamp and driver in. It suits most MR16 downlight frames, ⚠ depending on height.
  • ✅ The module is the replaceable part. When it fails, or the beam or colour needs to change, the frame and the ceiling stay untouched.

What does the fifth colour temperature give me?

A 2700 K setting at the warm end. Most switchable fittings in this catalogue jump from 3000 K to neutral white, so a room wanting genuine incandescent warmth has had no option. On a staged renovation it has a second use: matching the colour of the old fittings in the rooms you have not reached yet.

Will it replace my existing halogen downlights?

In most cases — that is what it is designed for. You remove the MR16 halogen lamp and its transformer together and put the CELL lamp and driver in their place. It suits most MR16 downlight frames, with height being the constraint to check. Note the DALI versions are 68 mm deep rather than 56 mm, which is exactly the dimension that decides a retrofit.

How bright is it?

No lumen output is recorded for the 9 W module. For reference, the 13 W module is recorded at roughly 1,000 to 1,160 lumens depending on the colour setting, so a 9 W will be proportionately lower. Ask us for the real figures, particularly if the beam angle is narrow — a 15° and a 60° version of the same wattage behave very differently.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
