Celes Square Surface Mounted Up & Down Wall Light Polycarbonate

The Celes is the smallest and least expensive up-and-down wall light Havit makes, and the specification that matters most about it is what it is made of: moulded polycarbonate, not metal. That single choice is why Havit lists it as suitable for coastal installation while its aluminium equivalents carry salt-water exclusions. There is no metal skin to corrode.

It is a compact 100 mm square body in black or white, throwing a narrow band of light up the wall and another down it.

An adjustable beam, which is unusual at this size

The beam is adjustable from 5° to 120°. At the tight end it is a sharp blade of light — the crisp graze that makes a rendered or stone wall show its texture; opened up it becomes a broad wash closer to conventional wall lighting. That is set on the fitting during installation, so the effect can be tuned to the surface rather than accepted as it comes.

Output, and the figures do not run the way you would expect

It carries 2 × 3 W of built-in LED, tri-colour switchable, and the per-direction figures are 150 lm at 3000K, 160 lm at 4000K and 155 lm at 5500K. Note the order: 4000K is the brightest setting, not 5500K. The natural assumption is that cooler means brighter, and on this fitting it does not — neutral white is the peak and cool white sits slightly below it. Those figures are per direction, so the fitting as a whole delivers roughly double.

Colour is chosen on a switch inside the fitting at installation, which means the same product covers a warm entry, a neutral facade or a cool modern elevation. It is not dimmable — Havit states that on both of its documents, and there is no dimmable variant of this model.

Where it can go

It is rated IP65, which is jet-proof rather than merely splash-proof, so it does not need an eave and can take a fully exposed wall. Combined with the coastal suitability, that makes it one of the few genuinely seaside-capable fittings at this price. The trade-offs are honest ones: impact resistance is IK04, the lowest in this range, and glare is UGR under 34 behind a clear polycarbonate diffuser — so it suits a facade or a garden wall better than a tight walkway at eye level.

Installing it

Here is the practical advantage: it is Protection Class 2 and requires no earth. Every other up-and-down fitting in this range is Class 1 and needs one, which makes the Celes the straightforward choice on a two-core supply or an older circuit where pulling an earth to the wall is the expensive part of the job. It wires directly to 240 V mains with no driver. Colour consistency is SDCM under 6 with CRI above 80, and the LED module is rated to 30,000 hours.
