The Brixon EX40 is a 400 mm exterior wall light in aluminium and glass with a frost polycarbonate diffuser — integrated 18 W LED giving 720 lm at 3000 K, IP44 — in sand black.

Forty centimetres tall — an architectural statement

This is a large exterior fitting. At 400 mm high on a 114 mm backplate, it is meant to be seen: a strong vertical mark on a facade, an entry or a covered wall, where a small lantern would look apologetic. Measure the wall — and note it stands 180 mm proud.

The smaller one is 300 mm

Brixon is made in two sizes, and they scale honestly: 30 cm at 16 W and 640 lm, 40 cm at 18 W and 720 lm. Same efficiency, proportional output — unlike some ranges in this catalogue, you get more light for the larger fitting.

Glass with a frost diffuser behind it

Two layers doing different jobs: glass for the outer face, with a frost polycarbonate diffuser inside it. The glass gives the fitting substance and weathers well; the frost layer spreads the LED evenly so a 400 mm face glows uniformly rather than showing hot spots. Either alone would compromise one or the other.

Substantial — 3.4 kg

Aluminium and glass rather than plastic, and you can feel it. Worth mentioning to your electrician for the fixing.

3000 K, warm and fixed

No colour selection and no dimming. Warm white is the right default on a facade — it flatters brick, render and timber, where a cool white makes them look cold.

The LED is integrated

Included and sealed — nothing to buy and nothing to match across a pair either side of a door. Three-year replacement warranty.

Integrated 18 W LED giving 720 lm at 3000 K, included, CRI >80. Not dimmable. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP44 — covered outdoor positions. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
