The Brex DL70 is a 70 mm deep-recessed downlight — 7 W COB giving 610 lm at CRI above 90, a 36° beam, TRIAC dimmable, IC-4 — into a 65 mm cut-out.
Most downlights sit the LED near the surface, which is why you see a bright spot every time you look up. The Brex recesses the source deep inside a precision reflector, so from normal standing height you see lit surfaces and not the fitting. In a room with a dozen downlights that is the difference between a comfortable ceiling and a grid of glare — and it is the single reason to choose this over a cheaper 70 mm.
Narrower than the 100–120° of a standard downlight. The Brex puts light where you aim it rather than washing everything — excellent over a bench, a bath or a hallway run, but plan for more fittings if you are lighting a whole room evenly. Tell us the room and we will work out the spacing.
>90 renders skin, timber and stone properly, and surge protection is built in — downlights die in numbers after a storm, and a margin at this size is uncommon.
It is Class III — low voltage — so it runs from a driver. Neither of our sources mentions this, and it is the sort of omission that stops an installation on the day. Ask us and we will confirm what ships with the fitting before you order in quantity.
IC-4 means insulation may be laid directly over it — no clearance gap, no hole cut in the ceiling insulation above every fitting. IP44 applies to the room side: splash protection from below, which is what a bathroom needs. The datasheet is explicit about that distinction, and it is worth knowing.
70 mm fitting into a 65 mm hole, 80 mm deep, cable 950 mm. Note that 65 mm is not the common 90 mm Australian cut-out — this is for a new install or a smaller, more discreet result, not a drop-in replacement for standard downlights.
Brex is made at 70 mm and 93 mm. Ask us if the larger suits the ceiling better.
70 mm fitting, 65 mm cut-out, 80 mm deep, cable 950 mm, in polycarbonate. Integrated 7 W COB LED giving 610 lm at 3000 K, included, CRI >90, beam 36°, dimmable — TRIAC, surge protection fitted, current output 240 mA. Class III — low voltage; driver required, IC-4 — insulation may cover it, IP44 (room side) — bathrooms YES. Warranty published as three years — the sheet says five; ask us.

Yes — IC-4, so insulation may be laid directly over with no clearance gap.
Yes. IP44 applies to the room side — splash protection from below, which is what a bathroom needs.
We publish three years. The datasheet says five and the record says three. Ask us and we will settle it.
