Brevan 9 Pendant Light

The Brevan PE9 is a 990 mm nine-light pendant in antique gold or black with alabaster-effect glass shades — nine E27 globes to 25 W each, not supplied, on a 1,500 mm suspension.

“Alabastro” — what it means and what it does

Our description called the shades “alabastro”, the Italian trade term for alabaster-effect glass: white, dense and faintly veined, made to look like the stone.

The behaviour is the point. Clear glass reveals the globe; frosted gives a flat even panel. Alabaster glass is slightly uneven in density, so it glows with a soft cloudiness that varies across each shade. Across nine shades at once, that variation reads as depth rather than as nine identical glowing balls — which is exactly what a fitting this size needs to avoid looking mechanical.

The largest Brevan — and it is a big fitting

990 mm wide by 648 mm high. That 648 mm depth is the figure to plan around: it is half as tall again as the eight-light, and on a 1,500 mm suspension the bottom of the fitting sits well over two metres below the ceiling once the drop is added.

Nine globes — and the glass makes the choice easy

Nine E27 to 25 W each — 225 W maximum, none supplied. Because alabaster glass hides the globes, the decision is brightness and warmth only: no decorative filaments, and no need for the nine to match visually, which on a nine-globe fitting saves real trouble.

Use warm 2700 K, especially in antique gold, where cool white reads green. At LED wattages the real load is a small fraction of 225 W.

Antique gold or black

Against white glass the two do opposite things. Antique gold is warm and tonal — metal and glass sit close together and the fitting reads as one soft object. Black is high contrast: the frame becomes a graphic outline and the nine white shades read as bright points within it. At this size the difference is considerable.

Where it works

• Long dining tables in rooms with height.
• Stairwells and double-height entries — 648 mm has room.
• Large kitchen islands, lit end to end.
• ⚠ 648 mm deep on a 1.5 m drop — too much for a standard ceiling.
• ⚠ Nine LEDs on one dimmer — let us match them.

990 mm wide by 648 mm high, canopy 120 mm, suspension 1,500 mm, in iron and alabaster-effect glass, satin. Weight is not recorded — ask us. Nine E27 globes to 25 W each — 225 W total, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
