Brevan 8 Pendant Light

The Brevan PE8 is a 910 mm eight-light pendant in antique gold or black with alabaster-effect glass shades — eight E27 globes to 25 W each, not supplied, on a 1,500 mm suspension.

“Alabastro” — what our page meant, and what it does

Our description called the shades “alabastro”, which is the Italian trade term and tells a customer nothing. What it means is alabaster-effect glass: white, dense and faintly veined, made to look like the stone.

What it does with light is the point. Unlike clear glass, which reveals the globe, or frosted glass, which gives a flat even panel, alabaster glass is slightly uneven in density — so it glows with a soft cloudiness that varies across each shade. On eight shades at once, that variation reads as depth rather than repetition, which a set of eight identical frosted globes would not.

Eight lights across 910 mm

910 mm wide by 438 mm high, and this is a dining-room centrepiece. Eight sources spread across nearly a metre light a long table evenly end to end, and at 25 W each — 200 W maximum it is comfortably the room's main light.

Eight globes to buy — and the glass makes the choice easy

Eight E27 to 25 W each, none supplied. Because alabaster glass hides the globe, the decision is brightness and warmth only — no decorative filaments needed, and no requirement for the eight to be visually identical.

Use warm 2700 K, especially in antique gold, where cool white reads green. At LED wattages the real load is a small fraction of the 200 W maximum.

Antique gold or black

Against white alabaster glass the two finishes do opposite things. Antique gold is warm and tonal — the metal and the glass sit close together and the fitting reads as one soft object. Black is high contrast: the frame becomes a graphic outline and the eight white shades read as bright points within it.

The smaller of two

Brevan also comes as a five-light at 690 mm — same shades, same finishes, same 1,500 mm drop. The five suits a table of about 1.4 metres; this eight wants 1.8 metres and up.

Eight E27 globes to 25 W each — 200 W total, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
