The Domus BOOST-10 is a 10 W recessed LED downlight with an anti-glare deep-set frame and an opal diffuser, IP54, switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5700 K, in black or white. Cutout Ø90 mm.

✅ Five-year warranty, and it is properly recorded. That is worth saying plainly because it is unusual in two directions: most of this catalogue carries three years, and several other Domus downlights that do carry five have lost the figure somewhere between the datasheet and the product page.

Over a ceiling full of fittings, five years against three is a real difference — and replacing a failed downlight is a labour job, not a parts job.

What “BOOST” is and is not

Domus describes this range plainly: it uses cost-saving materials to produce a cost-effective, well-performing downlight. That is an honest description and worth repeating rather than dressing up.

  • ✅ It keeps the things that matter — the deep-set anti-glare frame, the opal diffuser, an integrated dimmable driver with flex and plug, IP54, and colour switching.
  • ✅ The body is polyamide rather than die-cast aluminium. ⚠ That is the cost saving, and it is the honest trade-off: lighter, cheaper, and it relies on the range's thermal management system rather than on a metal heatsink.
  • ⚠ Where it belongs is a whole-house fit-out at a sensible price, not a specification job where die-cast aluminium is called for.
The numbers
  • 750 lm at 3000 K, 780 lm at 4000 K, 800 lm at 5700 K from 10 W.
  • 90° beam — wider than the usual 60°, so it covers more floor per fitting and needs fewer of them.
  • CRI ≥83. ⚠ An oddly precise figure where most of this catalogue says ≥80 — and a genuine, if small, step up.
  • Ø90 mm cutout, Ø110 mm face, 40 mm deep. ⚠ The cutout is on the datasheet and in no product field.
  • 40,000 hours, fully dimmable with suitable dimmers.
Why the deep-set frame matters more at 90°
  • A wide beam means light reaching you at a shallow angle, which is exactly the geometry that makes a flush downlight glare.
  • ✅ Setting the LED back behind an opal diffuser fixes that — you see a lit surface rather than a bright point.
  • ✅ In an open-plan room it is the difference between a comfortable ceiling and a row of dots in your peripheral vision.
IP54 and the colour switch
  • IP54 — splashing water from any direction. Bathrooms outside the shower zone, laundries, covered alfrescos, subject to your electrician and AS/NZS 3000.
  • ⚠ Not IP65. Directly above a shower, ask us for a higher rating.
  • 3000 K living areas and bedrooms; 4000 K kitchens, bathrooms and laundries; 5700 K garages and workshops — set by dip switch at the back before the fitting goes into the ceiling.

What warranty does it carry?

Five years, and it is properly recorded on this product — which is worth saying because most of this catalogue is three years and several other Domus downlights that do carry five have lost the figure between the datasheet and the page. What size hole does it need?

Ø90 mm, which is the standard Australian downlight cutout, so it drops into most existing installations without patching. The visible face is Ø110 mm and it is 40 mm deep. Note the cutout is on the datasheet and in no product field, so it is not there if you are planning a ceiling from the record.

What is the catch with a cost-effective downlight?

The body is polyamide rather than die-cast aluminium, and Domus is upfront that the range uses cost-saving materials. It keeps what matters — the deep-set anti-glare frame, the opal diffuser, the integrated dimmable driver, IP54 and colour switching — and relies on the range's thermal management rather than a metal heatsink. For a whole-house fit-out at a sensible price that is a fair trade; for a specification job calling for die-cast aluminium it is not.

Why is the beam 90° instead of 60°?

It covers more floor per fitting, so you need fewer of them across a room. The trade-off is that a wide beam reaches your eye at a shallow angle, which is exactly the geometry that makes a flush downlight glare — which is why the deep-set frame and opal diffuser matter more here than on a narrow-beam fitting.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Yes, outside the shower zone. IP54 covers splashing water from any direction, which suits a bathroom or laundry ceiling and a covered alfresco, subject to your electrician and the zones in AS/NZS 3000. Directly above a shower you want IP65 and we can point you at one.

What does CRI ≥83 mean next to CRI ≥80?

A small but genuine step up in how accurately colours render. Most of this catalogue rounds to ≥80, so the precision of ≥83 is unusual and it is a real figure rather than a rounding. It is not the ≥90 you would specify for a display cabinet, but for general room lighting it is at the better end of ordinary.

Is it dimmable?

Fully dimmable with suitable dimmers, and the driver is already integrated with a flex and plug so there is nothing extra to fit above the ceiling. Tell us which dimmer you are using and we will confirm the pairing before you buy both.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
