The Domus BF-8202 is a 510 mm tall raw ceramic wall light, 180 mm wide, complete with frosted glass and taking one E27 lamp. Supplied unpainted.
Across the 30 raw ceramics Domus makes in this family, this is the only one whose datasheet mentions glass. Every other one is an open shell that throws light out of an aperture.
At 510 mm against a family that otherwise tops out around 165 mm, this is a vertical column rather than a wall block.
Raw ceramic wall light with frosted glass, made in Italy. 180 mm wide × 510 mm high × 90 mm projection. Requires 1 × E27 — not included. ⛔ Maximum wattage: the datasheet says 60 W and our record says 20 W (⭐ the same conflict is on 11 of the 12 E27 ceramics here). Supplied unpainted, finishable with any water-based paint. 220–240 V AC, hard-wired, indoor dry areas. 50,000 hrs fitting life. ⚠ Warranty 1 year.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Two things, and both matter. It is the only one of the thirty with glass — its datasheet says "complete with frosted glass" and no other BF sheet mentions glass at all — so the lamp is diffused rather than exposed and you can look at it directly. And it is by a distance the tallest, 510mm where the rest top out around 165mm. The others are wall blocks that graze plaster; this is a vertical column that lights a room.
Not the same way. The open ceramics throw light out of an aperture and skim it across the plaster, which is what makes them good above a textured wall. The frosted glass here diffuses the light outward into the room instead. If grazing light on a wall is the effect you are after, one of the open ceramics does it better.
The datasheet says 60W and our record says 20W. It is not isolated: 11 of the 12 E27 raw ceramics in this range carry the same conflict, and the twelfth — the BF-2440 — has a sheet genuinely reading "20W CFL", which looks like where the figure came from. We work to the datasheet's 60W. An 8–10W E27 LED sits under both, and behind glass an LED is the sensible choice anyway because a diffuser traps warmth an open shell would release.
It depends entirely on the wall. On a stairwell, a double-height entry or a corridor with a high ceiling it reads as deliberate where a small fitting would be lost. On a low wall or a short return it will dominate. Measure first, and set the mounting height deliberately — centred too high and the top runs into a cornice.
An 8–10W E27 LED in 2700–3000K, rated for enclosed fixtures, in a compact globe shape. Because the glass is frosted the lamp's shape is hidden, so there is no reason to pay for a decorative filament globe nobody will see. Check the dimensions fit — behind glass there is less spare room than in an open shell.
No — the raw ceramic is a deliberate look. It is porous until painted or sealed, so it marks more easily than a finished surface. At 510mm it is a large surface to keep clean, which is worth thinking about at hand height.
No. Raw ceramic is porous until painted and the fitting is rated for indoor dry use only, glass or not. For a bathroom, ask us for something with an IP rating suited to the zone.
