Domus BF-8202 Raw Ceramic Interior Wall Light

The Domus BF-8202 is a 510 mm tall raw ceramic wall light, 180 mm wide, complete with frosted glass and taking one E27 lamp. Supplied unpainted.

⭐ It is the only ceramic in this range with glass — and that changes what it is

Across the 30 raw ceramics Domus makes in this family, this is the only one whose datasheet mentions glass. Every other one is an open shell that throws light out of an aperture.

• ✅ The lamp is diffused, not exposed. That makes this the only fitting in the range you can look at directly without seeing a bright point of light.
• ✅ So it works at eye level, where the open ceramics do not — beside a mirror, along a hallway at head height, either side of a door.
• ✅ It emits into the room rather than only grazing the wall. The open ceramics wash plaster; this one is closer to a conventional wall light.
• ⚠ Which also means it will not graze a wall the way its siblings do. If the effect you want is light skimming up a textured plaster surface, one of the open ceramics does that better.

⭐ And it is by a distance the tallest in the range

At 510 mm against a family that otherwise tops out around 165 mm, this is a vertical column rather than a wall block.

• ✅ The proportion is nearly three to one — 510 mm tall on 180 mm wide.
• ✅ It suits a tall wall: a stairwell, a double-height entry, a corridor with a high ceiling, where a small fitting is lost.
• ⚠ Measure before ordering. Half a metre of wall light needs the wall to carry it, and it needs mounting height set deliberately — centred too high and the top runs into a cornice.

⛔ Two sources give two different maximum wattages

• The datasheet says 60 W. Our record says 20 W.
• ⭐ 11 of the 12 E27 raw ceramics in this range carry the identical conflict; the exception is the BF-2440, whose sheet genuinely reads “20 W CFL” — the likely source of the rest.
• ✅ We work to the datasheet’s 60 W, and an E27 LED at 8–10 W sits under both.
• ⚠ Heat matters a little more behind glass. A diffuser traps warmth an open shell would release, which is one more reason to use an LED rather than an incandescent here.

Choosing the lamp — not supplied

• ✅ E27 LED, 8–10 W, 2700–3000 K, rated for enclosed fixtures.
• ✅ The frosted glass hides the lamp’s shape, so an ordinary compact LED globe looks as good here as a decorative one — no reason to pay for a filament look nobody will see.
• ⚠ Check it fits the cavity — behind glass there is less room to spare.
• ⛔ E27, not E14.

Where it works

• A stairwell or double-height entry, where 510 mm reads as deliberate.
• Beside a mirror or a doorway — the diffused glass makes it safe at eye level.
• Matched as a pair either side of a bed or an opening; the vertical proportion suits symmetry.
• ⚠ Not on a low wall or a short return — it needs the height.
