Barline 600mm surface mounted wall light — 24V

At 600mm and 9W, this is the mid-length Barline in its 24V low-voltage form, in black or white. The 180° beam throws light sideways across the surface the fitting is fixed to, so the wall is what you see lit rather than the space in front of it.

Length changes the character of a linear fitting more than output does. A short Barline reads as a marker beside a door; at 600mm it starts to read as a line drawn along the wall, which is what suits it to a hallway, a run of joinery, or the return wall of an entry where there is enough surface for the light to travel.

This is a 24V fitting — plan the driver first

Both part numbers here run on 24V DC and cannot be wired to 240V mains. A 24V DC driver is required on the circuit and is not supplied with the fitting. Establish that before ordering: a low-voltage fitting delivered to a job set up for mains is a fitting that cannot go on the wall that day.

Because it is Class 3, no earth is required at the fitting, and several Barlines can be run from a single driver — which is the usual reason these are chosen for a sequence along a corridor. Add up the wattage of every fitting on the run, plus anything you might add later, before sizing the driver.

Light output and colour temperature

The 600mm Barline draws 9W and is tri-colour, so the colour temperature is chosen on the fitting at installation rather than being fixed at manufacture: 3000K, 4000K or 5500K. Colour rendering is above 80 CRI and the beam is 180°.

The fitting is not dimmable, so it belongs on a switched, sensor-driven or timed circuit. In a hallway that is rarely a limitation — a wall-washing fitting at this scale is already a low-level light rather than a bright one.

Installation and siting

The body must cover its own cable outlet, so mark out the full 600mm before the cable position is fixed. A linear fitting is unforgiving here in a way a round one is not: it cannot be rotated to hide an outlet that ends up outside its footprint.

It is rated IP65 for dust and jetted water and IK08 for impact, so it works outdoors as readily as indoors. Havit applies a siting condition: aluminium, 304 stainless and powder coated brass or 316 stainless fittings must not be installed within 5km of a salt water environment, including pools. The LED is built in — nothing to buy alongside it and nothing to replace. Installation is work for a licensed electrician.
