Barline 300mm surface mounted wall light — 24V

This is the 300mm Barline in its 24V low-voltage form, sold in black and white. It is a linear surface-mounted fitting with a 180° beam, which means the light leaves the body sideways and washes the surface it is fixed to rather than throwing forward into the room. Mounted vertically beside a door or horizontally above a bench, the result is a band of light on the wall with the fitting reading as a drawn line across it.

The body is aluminium with a Perspex diffuser, rated IP65 for dust and jetted water and IK08 for impact. That combination suits it equally to an outdoor entry wall and an indoor bathroom or stairwell.

This is a 24V fitting — it does not connect to mains

Both part numbers on this page run on 24V DC. They do not wire to 240V mains, and they require a 24V DC driver on the circuit which is not supplied with the fitting. That is the single most important thing to establish before ordering, because a 24V Barline delivered to a job expecting a mains fitting cannot be installed.

The upside of low voltage is real. The fitting is Class 3, so no earth is required at the fitting itself, and several Barlines can share one driver on a run — which is why these are often specified in sequences along a corridor or up a stair. Check the capacity of the driver against the total load before adding fittings to an existing run.

Light output and colour temperature

The 300mm Barline draws 4.5W. It is a tri-colour fitting, so the colour temperature is selected on the fitting at installation rather than fixed at manufacture: 3000K, 4000K or 5500K. Colour rendering is above 80 CRI.

At 300mm and 4.5W this is an accent fitting rather than a room light. It marks a doorway, lifts a wall or edges a stair; it does not light a space. That is the correct expectation to set — a linear wall light bright enough to light a room is a linear wall light that glares at anyone walking past it. The fitting is not dimmable.

Installation and siting

Being surface mounted, the fitting has to cover its own cable outlet, so set out the full 300mm on the wall before the cable position is fixed. Rated lamp expectancy is >30,000 hrs and the LED is built in — no globe to buy and none to replace.

Havit applies a siting condition: aluminium, 304 stainless and powder coated brass or 316 stainless fittings must not be installed within 5km of any salt water environment, including pools. ⚠ Note that pools are named explicitly on this fitting's documentation — a poolside installation is covered by the same restriction as a coastal one. Installation is work for a licensed electrician.
