The Aydin PE35 is a 350 mm perforated metal dome pendant in antique brass, hung from a chain — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied — on a 2,000 mm suspension.
The dome is intricately cut through with a repeating pattern, and what that does is the reason to buy it: light escapes through the holes as well as out of the bottom, so the fitting throws its own pattern onto the ceiling and the walls around it.
The effect only works if the light source is a point. That makes the globe choice matter more than usual, and it is not supplied:
Ask us and we will match a globe to the effect you want.
⚠ It does not change colour. Our record carries a colour-changing flag against it. It takes one ordinary E27 globe and includes none — there is nothing in the fitting capable of it.
Most pendants in this catalogue hang on a cord or a rod. The Aydin hangs on a chain, and that changes two things. It gives the fitting a vintage, industrial-utility character that a smooth cord cannot; and it is adjustable by the link rather than by cutting, so the drop can be set exactly and changed later.
The larger of two — roughly square in proportion, which suits a dome. At 350 mm it has enough presence to hang singly over a small table or an entry, where the 280 mm version is better in a run of two or three over a bench.
Dimming depends on the globe. Our record carries no value at all; the datasheet says globe dependent. On a pattern-casting fitting, dimming is especially worth having: dimmed, the projected pattern is most of what you see and the room becomes about the shadows rather than the light. Ask us and we will match a dimmable globe to your dimmer.
Antique rather than polished — correct on a perforated dome, because a polished surface would bounce light back through its own holes and blur the pattern. The antique finish absorbs, so the cut-outs read as clean shapes.
Our record and the old page list the materials as “iron and wood”. The datasheet says iron alone, and the description mentions only perforated metal and a chain. We have published iron, and asked Telbix whether a timber element exists.
It is Class I — earth required and IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. A licensed electrician installs it.
350 mm across by 370 mm high, canopy 120 mm with a 25 mm projection, chain suspension 2,000 mm and adjustable, 1.8 kg, in perforated iron, antique brass. One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Light escapes through the holes as well as out of the bottom, so the fitting throws its own cut-out pattern onto the ceiling and the walls around it.
A compact clear or lightly frosted globe, which gives sharp well-defined shadows — the whole effect. A large opal globe fills the dome with diffuse light and the pattern goes soft and muddy. Ask us and we will match one.
No. Our record carries a colour-changing flag against it, which is wrong — it takes one ordinary E27 globe and includes none.
