Aydin 28Cm Pendant Light Small

The Aydin PE28 is a 280 mm perforated metal dome pendant in antique brass, hung from a chain — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied — on a 2,000 mm suspension.

The perforations throw a pattern — and the globe decides how sharp it is

The dome is cut through with a repeating pattern, so light escapes through the holes as well as out of the bottom and the fitting projects its own shadows onto the ceiling and walls.

That effect depends entirely on the light being a point source, and the globe is not supplied:

• Compact clear or lightly frosted — sharp, defined shadows, which is the whole reason to buy it.
• Large opal — the dome fills with diffuse light and the pattern goes soft and muddy.

The smaller of two, and the one that hangs in runs

280 mm across by 325 mm high, at 1.5 kg. At this size a single Aydin is a detail; it is at its best in a run of two or three over a bench or island, where the projected patterns overlap on the ceiling and the effect multiplies. The 350 mm version is the one to hang singly.

The chain — adjustable by the link

Most pendants here hang on a cord or rod. The Aydin hangs on a chain: a vintage, industrial-utility character a smooth cord cannot give, and a drop that is adjustable by the link rather than by cutting — so a run of three can be set to exactly matching heights, or deliberately staggered.

Antique brass, not polished

An antique finish is correct on a perforated dome: a polished surface would bounce light back through its own holes and blur the pattern, where an antique one absorbs and lets the cut-outs read as clean shapes.

Our record and the old page list the materials as “iron and wood”; the datasheet says iron alone, and the description mentions only perforated metal and a chain. We have published iron and asked Telbix.

• In runs of two or three over benches and islands — the patterns overlap.
• Small entries and hallways, singly.
• Vintage, industrial and farmhouse interiors, with plain ceilings.
• ⚠ Use a compact clear globe — an opal one blurs the pattern.
• ⚠ Hanging several? Buy the globes together so the patterns match.

280 mm across by 325 mm high, canopy 120 mm with a 25 mm projection, chain suspension 2,000 mm and adjustable, 1.5 kg, in perforated iron, antique brass. One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
