The Domus AVIGNON is a traditional exterior lantern in die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, IP43, 215 × 540 mm, taking a B22 bayonet lamp, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white. This listing is the pillar-mount configuration.
Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.
⭐ The same lantern head is made in seven configurations, and this page is one of them. Domus lists them plainly and nothing in our catalogue connects them:
| Configuration | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Pillar mount (this) | Flat on top of a pier, pillar or wall cap |
| Wall bracket | Off a wall on an arm |
| Post top | On the end of a post |
| Pendant | Hung from a porch or portico ceiling |
| Single head on post | 1.25 m, 1.9 m or 2.26 m |
| Twin head on post | 1.4 m, 2.05 m or 2.4 m |
| Triple head on post | 2.4 m |
✅ That matters on a job with more than one position. A driveway entry with piers, a path with posts and a front door can all take the same lantern in three different mountings, and read as one scheme rather than three near-matches. Tell us the positions and we will quote the set.
Its sheet carries a line reading “Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket”.
⭐ “GT-271” is the lantern series code, not a part number. Every GT code in this catalogue maps to exactly one traditional-lantern family — GT-271 is this one — and each has a matching GTA replacement diffuser sold separately (GTA-271, the AVIGNON series panel set). The line as we extracted it runs three separate things on the sheet together: “Requires: Lamp”, which is true and worth knowing because the lamp is not included; the series code; and the caption of one of the sheet’s diagrams. ✅ So nothing extra is required — but the diffuser is worth knowing about. ⭐ On a die-cast aluminium lantern the acrylic is the part that fails: UV yellows and embrittles it over years while the body lasts decades. Ask us for the GTA-271 panel set rather than replacing the whole fitting.
What this fitting needs is a fixing into the pier and a B22 lamp.
AVIGNON traditional exterior lantern, pillar-mount configuration. 215 × 540 mm. Die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens; made in Italy, assembled and powder coated in Australia. B22 bayonet lamp holder — lamp not included. ⛔ Maximum lamp wattage is not recorded in any source — ask us before buying globes. 220–240 V AC. IP43 — covered or sheltered positions, not open weather. Beige, black, burgundy, green or white. ⚠ Warranty 1 year.
✅ The same lantern head is available as a wall bracket, post top, pendant, and single, twin or triple head on posts of six heights. Tell us the positions on your job and we will quote the set. ⚠ Its datasheet's "requires a wall bracket" line refers to a sibling configuration, not to this pillar mount.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Seven configurations of the same head: this pillar mount, a wall bracket, a post top, a pendant, and single, twin or triple head on posts — at 1.25, 1.9 or 2.26 m for a single head, 1.4, 2.05 or 2.4 m for a twin, and 2.4 m for a triple. Nothing in our catalogue links them, which is why we are listing them here. On a job with piers, a path and a front door, the same lantern in three mountings reads as one scheme rather than three near-matches.
Not recorded — and we would rather say so than guess. Neither the datasheet nor our record states a maximum for the B22 holder, which is the figure that decides what is safe to fit. It is the third Domus lamp-holder fitting we have found in that position, so it is a documentation pattern rather than a one-off. An LED B22 sidesteps it: 9–11 W gives roughly what a 60 W incandescent did and runs cool inside a sealed acrylic lens.
Under shelter or with an overhang, yes; fully exposed on a windy site, no. IP43 means protection against spray falling at up to 60° from vertical — a porch, a portico, a pier cap with something above it. It is not rated for driven rain or hosing. Tell us how exposed the position is and we will point you at something rated for it if this is not right.
Moulded acrylic. That is an advantage at a driveway entry, because it will not shatter if it is clipped by a car door or a wheelbarrow. The trade-off is UV: acrylic can craze over years of full sun where glass does not, so on a fully exposed pier expect the lens to need replacing sooner than the body.
The lantern is made in Italy and assembled and powder coated in Australia. The local powder coating is why five colours are available on a traditional lantern where most ranges offer two — it is worth using to match the house rather than defaulting to black.
No, and this is worth clearing up because its datasheet says otherwise. The sheet carries a line reading "Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket" — but this listing is the pillar mount, and a pillar mount does not need a wall bracket. The line names another configuration in the same family. What this fitting needs is a fixing into the pier and a B22 lamp.
One year is the term across the Domus traditional exterior range rather than an error on this listing; most of the rest of this catalogue is three. The trade-off is a die-cast aluminium body with a replaceable lamp and a replaceable lens — a design that tends to outlast its warranty by a long way, with the lens as the consumable.
