AVIGNON PILLAR MOUNT B22

The Domus AVIGNON is a traditional exterior lantern in die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, IP43, 215 × 540 mm, taking a B22 bayonet lamp, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white. This listing is the pillar-mount configuration.

Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.

• ⭐ That is the trade-off for the five finishes. The body is powder-coated in the colour you choose after you order, which is why the range offers Beige, Black, Burgundy, Green and White rather than one stocked colour.
• ⚠ Plan the lead time into the job. If it is needed for a handover, a settlement or a booked electrician, tell us the date when you order and we will confirm the production window with Domus.
• ⚠ Order the whole set together. On a property using several of these, a second order placed later starts its own ten days — and a later powder-coat batch is not guaranteed to match the first.

⛔ The maximum lamp wattage is not recorded

• It takes a B22 bayonet lamp, and no source states the maximum. For a lamp-holder fitting that is the figure that decides what can safely be fitted.
• ⚠ It is the third Domus lamp-holder fitting we have found in this position, after the GT-670 pendant and the SHADOW 1LT wall light — so it is a pattern in how these are documented rather than a single omission.
• ✅ An LED B22 sidesteps it entirely. A 9–11 W LED gives roughly what a 60 W incandescent did and runs cool inside a sealed acrylic lens, which matters far more outdoors than in.
• Ask us before fitting anything else, and we will get the figure from Domus.

⚠ IP43 — it belongs under cover or on top of something

• IP43 is protection against spray falling at up to 60° from vertical. A porch, a portico, a pier cap with an overhang.
• ⛔ It is not for an exposed position where rain is driven sideways, and it is not to be hosed.
• ✅ On a pillar the lantern sits above the wall, which keeps water off the entry and helps — but it does not make an IP43 fitting weatherproof. If the pier is fully exposed on a windy site, tell us and we will point you at something rated for it.

• Die-cast aluminium body with a moulded acrylic lens. ⚠ Our record lists the material as aluminium alone.
• ✅ Powder coated locally, which is why five colours are available on a traditional lantern where most ranges offer two.
• ⚠ Acrylic is not glass. It will not shatter, which is an advantage at a driveway entry, but it can craze under years of UV where glass does not. On a fully sun-exposed pier, expect it to need replacing sooner than the body.

Choosing the finish

• Black and white — the safe choices against most render and brick.
• Green — reads well in a planted garden and disappears against hedging.
• Beige — against sandstone, render and lighter brick.
• Burgundy — a period choice, and a deliberate one.
• ✅ Match every position on the job. Five colours is generous; use it to match the house rather than defaulting to black.

⚠ About the “Requires: Wall Bracket” line on its datasheet

Its sheet carries a line reading “Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket”.

⭐ “GT-271” is the lantern series code, not a part number. Every GT code in this catalogue maps to exactly one traditional-lantern family — GT-271 is this one — and each has a matching GTA replacement diffuser sold separately (GTA-271, the AVIGNON series panel set). The line as we extracted it runs three separate things on the sheet together: “Requires: Lamp”, which is true and worth knowing because the lamp is not included; the series code; and the caption of one of the sheet’s diagrams. ✅ So nothing extra is required — but the diffuser is worth knowing about. ⭐ On a die-cast aluminium lantern the acrylic is the part that fails: UV yellows and embrittles it over years while the body lasts decades. Ask us for the GTA-271 panel set rather than replacing the whole fitting.

What this fitting needs is a fixing into the pier and a B22 lamp.
