Arkua Surface Mounted Wall Light

The Arkua is a surface-mounted aluminium wall light built around a single high-output LED behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser. It is the fitting for a wall that wants light rather than a light fitting: the diffuser turns a 10 W emitter into an even lit face instead of a bright point, which is what keeps it comfortable at eye level beside a door or along a corridor.

Output, and which setting is actually brightest

The built-in 10 W LED gives 740 lm at 3000K, 805 lm at 4000K and 760 lm at 5500K. Read that order carefully — the neutral 4000K setting is the brightest of the three, not the coolest. Tri-colour LEDs are rarely evenly stepped, and choosing 5500K in the belief it will give you more light gives you slightly less. All three temperatures are in the one fitting, so the same part number covers warm, neutral and cool.

The beam is 120°. Glare is specified rather than left to chance: UGR under 29, CRI above 80, and colour consistency held to SDCM under 5, which is tight enough that a run of them along one wall will not read as different whites.

Where it can go, and where it cannot

The rating is IP54. That is splash and dust protection, not full weather protection, and the distinction matters: IP54 wants an eave, a soffit, a balcony underside or a covered entry rather than an exposed wall taking driven rain. If the position is fully open to the weather, an IP65 fitting is the right specification and we would rather tell you that now than replace it later.

Impact resistance is IK04 — ordinary knocks, not deliberate ones, so think twice about an unsupervised public area. It is Protection Class 1, which means it requires an earth; that is worth confirming before a retrofit onto older wiring, because it is the one thing that can stop the installation on the day.

Specifying it

• Two part numbers, HV3518T-BLK and HV3518T-WHT, same price.
• 240 V mains. The LED is integral, so there is no globe to buy and no driver to size.
• Not dimmable — Havit lists it as such, and with a sealed LED there is no globe to substitute for a dimmable one.
• Rated life over 30,000 hours, poly powder-coated aluminium body.

It carries a 3-year replacement warranty.
