The Ariva PE106 is a 1,060 mm linear pendant in black or white sand — 46 W giving 2,054 lm, with switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K, CRI above 90, TRIAC dimmable, on a 3,000 mm suspension.

Three metres of suspension — this is built for a void

Most pendants in this range drop 2,000 mm. The Ariva drops 3,000 mm, and that is a deliberate design decision: it is intended for stairwells, double-height rooms, raked ceilings and voids where a standard drop would leave the fitting stranded near the ceiling.

On a standard 2.4 metre ceiling the suspension will need shortening — it is adjustable, and your electrician will do it at install — but it is worth knowing that you are buying a fitting designed for height.

CRI above 90 — and unusually, that is not the headline

Most pendants here record CRI 80, where food looks duller, timber flattens and skin goes slightly grey. The Ariva records above 90. Over a dining table or a kitchen island, which is where a 1.06-metre linear pendant goes, that is the specification worth comparing between fittings — and it was in the table with no explanation.

2,054 lumens from 46 watts — and why that is lower than it looks

45 lumens per watt, which is modest, with two honest reasons: the CRI above 90, which always costs efficiency, and the diffuser that produces the even wash.

Three colour temperatures, and TRIAC dimming

3000 K, 4000 K, 5000 K, selected at installation — note there is no 2700 K, so this does not go as warm as a purely decorative pendant, and 5000 K is cooler than most switchable fittings here reach. Combined with TRIAC dimming on an ordinary wall dimmer, that gives real range: a cool bright working island and a warm dimmed dining table from one fitting.

The dimming matters more than usual here. Several bright pendants in this catalogue cannot be dimmed at all; at 2,054 lm over a table, being able to is the difference between a fitting you can eat under and one you cannot.

Aluminium, iron and silicon

The silicon — missing from our record — does the sealing and diffusing work along the length; the aluminium sheds the heat, which at 46 W is what determines how long the LEDs last. Sand finish in black or white: matte, which over a metre of visible face keeps the fitting from reflecting the room.

Where it works

• Stairwells, voids and double-height rooms — the 3-metre drop.
• Kitchen islands and dining tables around 1.2 metres.
• Rooms needing both a bright working setting and a warm dimmed one.
